Dell V.S Acer.

I'm on the market for my first lap-top, and so far I've whittled down my choices to 2 models, with the same specifications except for the screen size.

So it's basically a toss-up between a 15.4" Dell and a 14" Acer.
As said, their specs are similar.
And both unit's design appeals to me.
So it's a brand V.S brand issue.

Any opinions? :wink:

actually depends wat u using the laptop for. if u wana do gaming as well then 14" like abit small. go for the 15.4" one. of i u want portability go for the 14". and also take weight/battery life of the laptop coz i tink these are the main issues about laptops

Definitely Acer.

Dell's products all look really appealling that go with super low prices. It'd be a good option if u're looking for a budget laptop but with acceptably good specs.
Acer is the more renowned of the two for its quality. A lot of ppl are using Acer laptop nowadays, me being one of them . I would say it is a good laptop for those not looking for super high ended specs. Wish they could improve on the 'cosmetic' department though.

Ultimately, its your choice :wink: Get a Fujitsu

and what do you ppl mean by quality? paying more for the extra marketing or not paying that more and buying from the company direct

definitely dell! i've used dell for years, and imo, its the best value for money (both desktops and laptops)

i'm currently in poly, in a gaming course. as a general observation, dells vs acer almost always comes out with dell on top. a few notable things are, the ability to detect networks that acers can't seem to find, as well as boot-up time, and lag.

however, if u decide to get a dell, i'd suggest the latitude D820. great stuff, not too pricey. and do order online, there're better deals than calling

ZOMG please DONT BUY A ACER LAPTOP!

acer desktops are good but the laptops suck ass.

this is coz the customer servive centre in singapore for acer laptops is very inefficient. and the tendency for ur acer screen to spoli is damn high. so unless u wanna have a damaged screen with a lousy service centre to approach, go with the dell.

Why not a HP/Compaq? Dell's CS sucks big time, Acer...the quality leaves much to be desired...

I don'tknow about you, but every Compaq notebook I've come across so far has had reliability issues at one point or another.

DELL. Whats the model? ASUS, MSI, & BENQ arnt bad mate. Dont b hypnotized by the majority in the mainstream marketing. The only mainstream brand that is worth mentioning is DELL. And maybe HP. They dont rip u off. And if u'v got a few thousands to spare, u might wanna take a look at Dell XPS M2010

used a dell laptop as a main computer for more than 3 years....0 problems, never had to get it serviced at all....damn reliable i must say

Acer - bad, office computer, everyone complains.

Dell - used as laptop in school - good. reliable.
