In case you haven't heard, in Life! 13 May 2008 Pg.10

Daniel Sassoon has left Electrico without a lead guitarist to concentrate on his legal career.

Always sad when you hear news like this, Electrico says they will soldier on without him. It'll be interesting to see how and where they're headed as i've always seen Daniel's sound as a big part of the band.

But i'll also wish Daniel all the best in his personal endeavours and all the success to Electrico despite Daniel's departure.

too bad they not recruiting a repllacement .. many softie potentials here ...

Haiz it is upsetting to see one of the most prominent band to lose one of its most prominent member..........Anyway all the best for Electrico that is still a great band imo, cheers!

alamak! sad sad.. but i guess its hard to juggle work and band at the same time especially if you're not working in music-related jobs or the like. depressing man..

anyway, i still think electrico can go on without a 2nd guitarist. the keyboards can cover although it would be hard to play the old stuff. a new guitarist would have alot of work to do man.. have to learn the songs and replicate the effects.

Bros, i think some things can't easily be replaced....Imagine Bon Jovi with Paul Gilbert on guitars instead of Ritchie Sambora, Satriani with Deep Purple(This did happen, for a short while...but the impending flop was pretty obvious), Steve Vai replacing Edge in U2 etc..

What I feel, might be a good replacement, would be dudes like Nigel Hogan(formerly "The Mother"'s lead vocalist+guitarist), Sean and/or Pann(Concave Scream), just to name a couple.

they too advanced for me lah ... I'm newbie :-D

i was thinking more of like Shredcow, ChanMin ..ppl like that lah ...

But but but... I only like MY music. :P

Geez. What's going to happen to his stash of gear? Will he gas somemore? I'm sure "legal careers" mean more $ but less time, right right right? Will he sell sell sell? Ooooo... so exciting!

That said, all the best to Daniel. That gracious fella, gear yakking with him was so ridiculously rocking.

Triphopbob: I agree.. it will take awhile just like Furniture. When their members left it was quite difficult getting permanent replacements. But i think they have a fixed line-up now. Can't wait to watch them play again.

whoa nellie...sheesh i come log on and there's a thread on me. i shy (yeah right). anyways thanks for the kind words, i'm sure they'll do just fine without me especially with the new tunes some of which I think are some of the best the band's done to date, and resonate with a different sound and vibe. it's a great opportunity for them to streamline a little and approach the music in a different way...all the very best to the lads and lass of course.

shredcow, the guitars and gear are piling up in my place with little sign of slowing down, you're always welcome to come plug in and jam around! and that 2nd "spare" pedalboard is looking good too and Goose is helping me tend to the cables on that real soon :)

music wise i'm always up for something new, who knows (besides I heard rumours of a Livonia get together ha ha) - i'm musically schizophrenic anyway and the songs in my closet are piling up I'll definitely find something to work on once the music bug hits me...just at a pace and level that's not quite so demanding or limelight-hogging as before. at least i can check off the pop/rock box in my list of musical things to accomplish and fix my sights upon other shores to explore.

cheers all!

Change is an opportunity for improvement.

I don't know him personally but he seems to be a class guy! He's come in here to post, to share his experience and wisdom - something I wished more like him had done/will do.

Once you're into music, you can never really get out of it. As he has mentioned, we should expect to hear from him, musically, in the future.

All is good!

Cheers

all the best to everybody involved!

and you just can't replace somebody who's been a part of a team for YEARS... would anybody have expected The Suns to get another drummer?

true.. my previous band simply couldn't carry on when our drummer passed away (similar circumstances as Wayne). we tried for a year to get back on track but it was really hard. in the end we disbanded and joined different bands.

anyway, yup all the best to all! as long as the music goes on, nothing is lost!

Livonia Please

I really hope the rumours about Livonia are true. Make it real lah.
I started following the band's releases after hearing Vengeance Is Mine on radio but only got to see you guys live ONCE. If I remember correctly, it was year 2000 at Orchard Point shortly after you guys put out the tgsl album!

It'll be cool if the band gets together for a couple reunion shows. I'm sure there's still an audience wanting to see Livonia live again.

reyar, i appreciate your kind words about a potential audience for any Livonia reunion but that would realistically be around 4 people and a stray cat. Then again that would be more than an audience i once played to at the Youth Park which consisted of a sole dustbin. still, as i've always mentioned to plainsman, if everyone's up for a jam or two, count me in! anyone know where the elusive Amy is? :)

on another note, it would be great fun to have a gig featuring long broken up bands...I'd love to see bands like Pagans/Starr, Padres, Jade Adversaries, Clothespeg, Sugarflies, Sideshow Judy, Sherene's Closet, Ordinary People etc. Just for old times' sake!

as a side note...at the Rock For Wayne gig while i was being reduced to fanboy status watching Humpback Oak in awe i couldn't help but notice the majority of the crowd being kinda subdued and dare i say it, uninterested. it got me thinking, maybe music has really changed alot and everyone's moved on...everyone's just focused on the now, *my* band, *my* peers, *my* generation etc. music naturally appeals to the young and young at heart and if i were 18 i doubt watching thirtysomethings play songs from another era would interest me too much.

never thought i'd say this and i am stating the obvious, but the age group i'm in, we're kinda over the hill and far away. maybe all we're cut out for is offering sagely if slightly cynical rocking-chair advice (eg "in my time sonny..."). so make the most of it and enjoy the ride...all you young 'uns reading this and laughing...remember, it'll happen to you too one day! :)
