Danelectro guitars/basses!

I notice there isn't any Danelectro thread here so I`ll start one. No doubt that this brand is very rare here. The lipstick tube pickups certainly give a unique tone. The shape and style are indeed retroish.

I once owned a DC-3 12 string (if anyone can still remember the pics I posted, should be currently in the hands of Mr Misse) which had a nice jangly chime to it. So now I`m awaiting my Danelectro Pro `63 reissue to arrive here by this mth.

Any softies care to share ur Danelectro guitars/basses pics? : )

how much did it cost you to ship it here? i would love to have one very much..

hifi_killer: For the DC-3 12 string, it cost me about SGD200. But for my future Dano Pro, should cost me slightly less than SGD200, 160+ maybe? It all depends on the weight n dimensions of the package.

How much was it including the guitar?

The DC-3 12 string was approx SGD700 in total including shipping. The Dano Pro, I got it for slightly less than SGD300, w/o shipping. The shipping for the Pro should cost me SGD160 approx. VPOSTUSA hasn't informed me of the exact shipping costs yet. So total for the Pro would amount to slightly less than SGD500.

Well, well....looks like the shipping charge to bring my dano to here is only slightly above SGD$100, so in total it costs slightly less than SGD$400

capt_oreo: Alamak, the colour of ur old U2 reminds me of my old DC-3 12 string. I listened to all my band recordings with tat 12 string..my wat a sound..missed it ah boo hoo Oh well, tat was my 1st brush with a electric 12 string

yes, i did install that myself.....

dano guitars might look like toys but the magic really is in the pickups.....absolutely fantastic...

Finally my Danelectro Pro has arrived!

Small scale, light and easy to play with. The lipstick pickups sound great, esp on the neck pickup.

Sound clips is a possibility, will make one when I have the time! Nice sound I`m getting from my Dano my other guitars are currently being ignored haha

Why I love the Dano? Small scale neck, easier to play n more comfortable. Sounds nice with clean n distorted sounds. Looks unique n retroish too.

I sure got lucky getting this Pro model as it is already discontinued.

Oh n did I mention that my Pro has only got 19 frets?!

Thanks...the lipstick pickups are really unique, sounds a bit like a Tele and very warm sounding, which I really like. I read tat their wiring is done in series rather than parallel.

They sound good with overdrive pedals too! It really shines on the bridge pickup, when playing chords. I recorded myself playing it yday night and will post the link to the sound clip here by tonight!

Duno the reason for them discontinuing their guitars but they are fast becoming a collector's item
