crap, my ear is ringing

Probably a very stupid and noob question to ask, but I've never realised that ear protection was necessary. Or more accurately, that it existed. :p. Where can I buy ear protectors? :S

Yea if you want to prolong your music career... hearing is your most important asset do treasure it. I have permanent damage on my right ear because i was not aware of it too. But it is ok, better late then never.

Ear protection = ear plugs at gigs, head muffs in jamming studios.

You can get some ear plugs at the army market in beach road, only $1-2 each, but I'm sure there are other places that sell them (DIY shop?).

Industrial head muffs are available at the DIY shop, and yes, they make you look like an astronaut.

the earplugs i'd recommend would be hearos or the high fidelity ones at hung brothers. 25 bucks a piece but it's a good investment to protect your ears. The sponge type just block out everything.

Where is the DIY shop located? and how much does it roughly cost?

err so sorry to hijack. but i'm having some ear problems too. when i wear headphones, whether or not there is music coming out, my right ear experiences a little tickling sensation after a while... but no ringing, no pain etc etc. wad cld be the prob?

go to the doctor..then tell that you want to clean your ears.

Big syringe leads to squirts leads to eargasm.

during my younger days in my first band SHADES ... my rummer used to whack so loud in the studio that we had to play just as loud and hard to keep up. Our ears used to ring too...but at most for a few hours..anything more than that better jaga man ....

nowadays we all "control volume"

Pete Townshend (The Who) and Ted Nugent have hearing problems - so better be careful

wah.. ok. your ears must be damn sensitive lah. haha.

Docs use those big syringes to clean your ears and they make you ears feel super super sensitive after the wash, which is great actually.

And the docs advised me to stop using cotton bud to clear ear wax. It pushes the wax further in. To clear it, just get those olive oil from the pharmacy and apply a few drops in yoru ear each night til it softens. Then it's easier to clean.

To remove very stubborn ear wax (ie blocked ears), a few drops of olive oil will not help. You need to pour till the entire ear canal is flooded, leave it there for about 5 minutes. Do it for a few days, then syringing will work better.

And yes, cotton bud is not recommended.

But "tickling sensation" in the ear as described above may not be due to ear wax.

Don't laugh, but it's not impossible! I've taken out all sort of things from ears. Cockroaches are the most difficult to remove because the body is segmented. It keeps splitting into the segments as it is being removed. But you generally feel them moving more frequently.

Paul Gilbert also has some ear damage and he has the constant whining sound in the ear just like me. I think its called tinitus or something.. However he looks cool instead of weird with the ear muffs he always wears!
