crap, my ear is ringing

I usually wear ear protection but yesterday me and my bandmates had an impromptu fun jam in a small room. We were playing much louder than usual, and my left ear was near my drummer's cymbal.

Both my ears were ringing after the jam, which happens sometimes after a gig or something. But this time my left ear is still ringing the day after. Anybody ever experience this? Is this permanent? :\

I'm only 17 years old dear god don't let me live with this ringing for another 60 odd years!

I am ALWAYS going to wear ear protection from now on.

Happened to me too, but it's fine after a day or two, don't worry, just avoid standing too near to the drumsets next time =)

i dont wear ear protection when i jam. and i'm the drummer.

don't worry man. it'll be an experience for you. it'll wear out in 3 days at most.

i'm going for plainsunset later and i'm going to be wearing earplugs just to be safe while my ears are recovering, so if anybody thinks I look weird please understands >_>

it works cuz u focus your hearing on the very very qieut sounds, so u sort of "force" your ear to be sensitive.

it works for me.

haha.dont worry la.never stand near a drumset when your drummer plays like sixes and sevens.btw those ringing sound you heard should be some magnetic waves or somthing like that.

Nah,it's not permanent. 3 days at most. Scariest fews days that I had. Stayed away from music for 2 days. Just to tune in to abit at some times..but it gets really muffled. After the 3rd day,everything was awesome. But yeah,you probably lost some of your hearing already. Guaranteed.

stay in a quiet room..sleep or awake... just when u concentrate your hearing to really sensitive sounds like the drop of a pin..
then get someone to help u do a crash on the cymbols.. hehehehe.. the lion dance kind!

thats called "using poison to cure poison"...very common for chinese.. hope u still alive to share the experience with us!

I have faint ringing in my ears all the time due to the stupid bravado of youth jamming damn loud in the studio. Lucky its just faint like background ambient noise.

Any pharmacy. It's the same thing that NS-men use when they go for live-firing exercises. At least that's what i use. In-ear earphones work the same way too.

And +1 to staying in a really quiet room. Haha!
