correct method for the pedal

Thx for the help, yea I tend to sit too low, cos its a small drumkit...

Can play heel up at a slower tempo now, but heel down still much faster and louder.
Got a huge cramp at the front of my shin today while practising with heel down, now my ankle can't bend without that muscle feeling sore D:

Its nth serious right?
Feels worse than shin spilts though...

You really gotta take time to adjust yourself and find that perfect 'drumming posture'.

My kit's small too but I've figured out that not only my throne is low, my snare's low too. So adjust a little here and there to find your little comfort zone. =)
I'm a happy drummer now. hehehe

Sore muscles usually happen when they're either overworked or not stretched enough for the stress you're giving.
Like perhaps playing a fast song with heel down? It's not impossible but maybe you needed more practice in that? Or perhaps you need to build up more endurance power in that leg?

Cos I too had a fair bit of soreness when playing fast songs with heel down. That's why I play heel up for fast songs ;)

Just play around with it. It's kinda irritating to adjust your throne/snare height frequently to find comfort when drumming but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. Cos I wanna have fun drumming, not sore ankles. =)

Sore-shins are usually overworked muscles. Your ankle also uses the shin muscles. I had that sore muscle before from overworking during jamming before :D Just have a good day rest, don't overwork your shin muscles again. Maybe just take a break from drumming tomorrow. You don't want complications in your muscles that requires medical attention to set in.

As Girlpants mentioned pretty much what I would like to tell you (but apparently I don't really know how to put it HAHA :p) Just experiment around, different people has different preferences. Like some people prefer their snare tilted, I prefer mine flat parallel to the ceiling, etc. The list goes on. :)

Girlpants: hehe, my throne is a office chair, easy to adjust the height. It's the floor tom that gives me headache to adjust...

Schtauffen: Yea, my shin feeling better now... Sigh, Wanted to drum more, sian, can't play at night...

Who says you can't play at night??? Just whack ah! Most to most the police will come. hehehe

Schtauffen: Tilted snare's for me! =)

heel toe is a cheat. the death metal community strongly disapproves of it. you should learn something like the slide instead.

i dont see how the heel-toe technique is cheating. it's just a technique developed by drummers to hit the bass drum twice with a single downward motion. think of it as double strokes with legs.

if you wanna talk about cheat, i think triggering drum sets more likely to be considered cheating (though its not), cause you tighten the set to give you an unrealistic rebound that's almost like an electronic set.
