Well, Apple is taking new steps to protecting the name "iPod".

Got this quote:

"Apple Computer has slapped Podcast Ready with a "cease and desist" letter, claiming that the terms "Podcast Ready" and "myPodder" infringe on Apple's trademarks, and that they cause confusion among consumers. The company has been cracking down on use of the word "pod" by all sorts of parties, even though its trademark is for the word "iPod."

So now, we can't even use the word Pod. Imagine what's going to hapen to Line6 Pod. Their Pod products come out before the Apple iPod!

I'm not a mac fanboi, but I just had to clarify this - if you read the article, Apple just wants myPodder not to use that name simply because it is misleading, however Podcast ready is just fine because it deals specifically with podcasts. I'd be surprised if Apple tried to destroy all the goodwill they've got out of the pod name - everyone seems to refer to mp3 players as ipods and thats never a bad thing!

i tink P.O.D. and the line 6 POD are safe, as the Ipod, is one capital I, and 3 small letters, pod

whereas P.O.D. is 3 capital letters and has . in between each letter

and the line 6 POD is all capital letters

haha

it is legal as long as u dun claim it as ur own,or u are not a professional musician, once u are professional musician and want to feature a cover on either on ur album or performance,u need to pay for it.coz as a professional musician i guess u will be earning money from ur activities,so u must pay a part of it to the original creator.i maybe wrong too.

Wrong. If you cover any song in a public place (gig/pub/whatever), the gig organiser has to pay royalties for the copyrighted songs. In Singapore, COMPASS collects this royalty. As a performer however, you most probably won't be paying this fee, unless you're an organiser.

so cover underground bands. trooly underground. coz nobody can find em. so no royalty bullshit. what they'll do is search up the band n get back no results. like for example the band X34SFZL33T. google em.
