hi guys, would like to ask you all what converters do u all use when converting video files from a handycamera onto a computer? cause if i were to just transfer the video from the handy camera to the computer the resolution of the image is not clear, so i guess i need a converter right? any recommendation on the most budget and good converter?

Which camera (brand/model) are you using and which software are you using for editing?

hi james, i am using a sony handycam model is DCR-DVD703E, currently my editing software is only windows movie maker, can i ask u which converter is most budget and good for me to convert the videos i take on the handycam onto my com so that the resolution will be good? :-D

Hey dude I think it's recorded to DVD straight right? I don't think converting your video file is going to help the video quality. You have to make sure the settings on your camcorder is set to the most optimal before you start recording.

Does the camcorder has a record to tape function? If it does, recording to the mini-DV tape will be the best you can get. If it only records to DVD, just make you that everything is set to the best settings. Not too sure what the settings are on your camcorder. Maybe you can post them here.

Thanks a million to everyone here for your post, i will go check it out :D any doubts i will ask here, have a great upcoming new year :D
