computer's power supply fan stopped

i realise my computer's power supply fan keep stopping. and when it heats up, my computer will auto restart.

any suggestions to cure this fan problem?

when it heats up..ur comp will auto shut down..and restart when its cool enuff..

carry on..and it'll pontentially damage ur components.

sure its power supply?

buy a new one.

dont risk it man. if your power supply overheats and blows, it could take out everything in your computer.
Happened to me once..

best to buy a new one. these days PSU not expensive. i would recommend the one I am using now, very quiet too, Silverstone 450w. can get from SLS at like $70 me thinks..

James, what type of computer are you running? brand name or custom built?

you can get a new PSU for as little as $25, or the safer bet is spend more, say $75+ for a more reliable brand one.

this is an old pentium 733. think about 6-7 years old already.

i kinda narrow it down to the power supply's fan. when i start up the computer, the fan doesn't move. i use a screw driver to give it a push and the fan will then start rotating. :lol:

should i spray some wd40 to the fan? ha..ha..

Haha 6-7 years ah, consider changing power supply liao. They break down quite fast. I've changed mine a few times over the years. Get a good one like the others have recommended, should last you some time. For the price, not worth the risk IMO.

I would try to see if it's too dirty etc. A P3 733 - not worth getting a new power supply. Unless really no choice.

your powersupply freaks me out.

change your powersupply. if you're free one of the weekdays between 9am to 6pm come over my workplace , pass it to me, go have coffee, and come back in 30 minutes to collect. I got 4 spares. you can have one for $10. hahah.
