Complains about MIC Epiphone Les Pauls??

I've seen quite alot of people having bad impression of Epis LP, or maybe their guitars in general. What are the main complains about their guitar other than it's MIC?

the wood quality, while never exactly good before, is getting worse.

im taking a wild guess than epiphone will slowly shut down a few china productions and move more to indonesia.
i've read more ppl saying the indonesian made les pauls play better than the china ones.

HMM!!

the very first one i had had sharp frets and the nut came off
but my second one was pretty okay so im kinda inbetween opinions

I call buying China guitars buying 4d... Dangerous, risky, but you might just get an awesome one for fractions of the cost.

Mine was kinda okay. No fret issue or bad paint work. It wasn't that fantastic, but it sounded okay to me. But the recent bad comments about epiphone guits seems to get more n more. haha.

not exactly all are epis are made of bad wood.some higher end ones but mic like les paul custom plus, the wood is actually quite good.but you can always try and check first before buying, thats the most important

the Epis in general, do not display consistant QC regardless of the country they were made in. this is why we should appreciate the instrument individually, rather than dismissing them according to where they were made.

Even with the Epiphone Ultra in Swee Lee didn't impress me as what I expected. I dunno if it's with the cheapo amp I tried when I was at the store or what but it doesn't feel SOLID or heavy sound to me. Fugly color neck too... why the heck did they color it orange? For $800+, I might pass and just order Agile or the Edwards (gawd, why did the Japs named it Edwards?!) :-D

the LP Ultra was convceived to be less hefty than its siblings- it features a chambered body, quite extensively if you refer to the review. after playing the Ultra, many people walked away dismissing it as a miss without having prior knowledge what the guitar is all about.

agreed.

however, there would be players here on a strict budget & they'd like to own a used unit, the MIC LPs should not be overlooked.

Do NOT judge a guitar from where it was made..
Do NOT judge a guitar from what people say..
It's what you say that matters..

Although I'm no LP owner, I myself am using a MIC Epiphone Vintage G-400..
Build-wise, one of the best guitar's I've had the chance of playing..
It beats half the Gibbies I've tried.. But of course, I have tried other G-400s, some excellent, some horrid..
At the end of the day, don't even bother asking where it was made.. If it feels good, nobody can take that feeling away from you..
If you are still particular about it, you can check the serial number..
Those with "EE" at the start is the Qingdao factory in China, which is quickly gaining reputation to rival that of the Elitist, and some swear even Gibsons themselves..
Mine is a "UC", meaning Unsung China, a factory that shifted from Korea.. I spend equal time on my Epiphone and Gibson, and on a blind test, I would say the Epiphone holds her ground..

If you are looking for a guitar, especially Epiphones, get an experienced friend to help you out.. There are lemons, and there are gems.. I'd say the gem I got is pretty darn good.. And the lemons I've tried, can be horrid (this happens with every brand, even high end ones).. Other companies have better QC, thus Edwards, Greco, Tokai, Burny and etc. are more favoured..

hit or miss!

Have i waited to long, have i found that someone~ Hahaha sorry, distraction.
kernelspy: It's an AC15 if i'm not wrong...

Anyway, i myself own an MIC les paul. The flame looks awesome and workmanship is not bad. Not a lot of flaws (except for those i unintentionally inflicted). Sounds awesome too.

I'm never going to buy any guitar MIC again, bad experience. I'll stick to korea/jap/USA from now on. QC is far more consistent, well, except for certain brands *COUGH*GIBSON*COUGH*

see the stereotype against gibson :P

PRS is actually getting worse too.
also ppl rave about caparisons...well my tech friend has seen a few brand new ones, including dillinger and horus, come in the last month or so for service due to bad fret jobs...

Actually, I find that Indonesia makes some really superb guitars. The Marliques at SV, all hand-made in Indonesia, really impressed me. I've seen and tried Korean made guitars that didn't feel right to my hand. But on the other hand, my Indonesian-made acoustic (my very, very old one) seems to have pretty poor craftsmanship on the neck joint but the tone is superb!

But to be honest I don't like to pass judgment based on country of origin, brand, price, etc. For me its all about whether the guitar impresses me and makes me want to own it. I met a really, really terrible Ibanez at the 1K+ price range, and its Dimarzios weren't too stellar either. My low-end Ibanez Gio actually feels (cannot compare tone, different amp used, different strings, etc) much better, and feels better-made too.

So yeah, its all about whether it impresses me. If it impresses me the most, I'd get it without a second thought. :D
