Christian/Catholic rockers come in!

Why do we have to draw line between christian n non-christian bands?

Unless ur purpose is to use ur music to glorify God, n nothing for yourself, the devil will still be laughing at some of all these so called "christian bands" who r all out to make a name for themselves...using God as a stepping stone.

But there are difference between listening to Tracy Chapman and Steven Curtis Chapman, rite? As much as we do not want to see "segregation" of genres, it's inevitable whether u are a gospel-in-your-face-band or a Christians-in-a-band-kind-of-band.

Sometimes the Christian music subculture becomes to inward looking and may lose it's vision or purpose, but we can't judge their intent. But if God could use those music to glorify his name, even if the intent is not pure, God could still use it for his GLory.

Satan thought the cross was the end of Jesus, but he was dead wrong! In the same way many people think music is evil (esp certain genre, such as Country), but look at how a symbol of shame could become a symbol of hope? I am not saying music is more important than the cross. I am just using illustration to point out the usefulness of music. So don't be too quick to give satan a upper hand, neither do we let down our guard to discern truth and error and to be careful to accept any thing that label's itself "christian".

God Bless U! It's the WEEKEND!!!

dear all, please try to keep the focus on music and not the religon part of it. thanks.

im not christian by any means, but you guys are forgetting the mighty EMBODYMENT ... they're not as popular as say zao or tourniquet, but killer all the same. brutal death with very slight early korn influences (to me at least). check out their album "embrace the eternal" especially "golgotha"... brilliant stuff. its hard to find though.

zao,at least up til the liberate te ex infernis album was good, especially the vocalist dan weyandt. one of my favourite vocalists of all time. that guy has an amazing scream to say the least..

i think its sad that a great deal of churches/people dont accept the more metal sounding christian bands, especially since the message they're putting across is fundamentally the same as others.

be it christian music or non christian music.. i still think its music.. one thing i can say is.. i believe there is a God.. but the thing is.. why draw a line?? i am a christian myself.. but.. i realised one thing... many fellow christians.. not all.. are too quick to judge a certain band as satanic... due to their lyrical content.. but tht is on the surface.. many dun even look deeper.. they say metallica was satanic.. but i dun see anything satanic bout them.. they are jus musicians purely writitng bout how they feel.. my point is.. why draw the line.. if u wanna glorify God.. do it.. by all means.. thru many forms.. music can be one of them.. but tht doesnt mean u must draw a line to it.. the main purpose is to reach out to the pple.. if u were to set a line.. u think those outside.. will wanna listen to them??? well i dunno its jus my opinion.. i still feel tht music.. shld be an instrument of expression.. expressing how u feel.. expressing u love God maybe.. like steve vai's for the love of God.. tht song i believe reflects on his feelings towards God.. i think it should be this way.. a feeling tht u wanna express.. thts why God made music.. for us to express..

\m/--> also means a sign of celebration.. seriously.. many pple think its horns.. but its actually a sign of celebration.. they think its satanic.. but its not... its the perception tht humans have.. tht makes it satanic..

People make EVERYTHING satanic. Think about it.

Metal is satanic. Pentagrams are satanic (they didnt use to be). Horns are satanic. Metallica is satanic. Judas priest is satanic. To name a few.

Great arguments put forth. To the godly, all things becomes godly because he/she knows how to use it according to God's purpose. To the ungodly, even if you give him/her a solemn hymn, it can be turned into profanity in the face of God.

It is hard to tell who is of God and who is not. Not who they claim themselves to be, and certainly not the kind of music they play. There is one basic doctrine, and that is one is unshakeable TRUTH and the other is a blatant DECEPTION.

HEY! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU GUYS MAN! I myself am a Christian too. =) But Music is just Music. From what I learn from a show Hells Bells showed at my church, is about how music influences you, and they say many bands are satanic. Music seriously influences you, i mean you will usually feel the way it is sung. Okay lets say you listen to a sad song, u might become sad, or something maybe like the lyrics says kill urself or something ur mindset will change. \m/ is taught in my church as saluting the devil or something. Cuz is like the devil horns or lets just say the Goaty/Goatie. Anyway Metallica rox, I'm a fan of Metallica. I like Nu-Metal, Heavy Metal and stuff like that. :)

I'm supporting christian metal lol =P \m/

Just came back from church

I asked two pastors just now regarding what do they feel about christian metal. Interestingly enough, both had 2 different perspective. One totally disagree with christian metal, he gave me a verse from rome 12:2. Then, he told me that we should not be like the world and that includes music too. He proceed on by saying how satan also use music(Metal) to tempt people and that satan too was a musician before he was cast down by God.

Another pastor gave me another verse from Psalm ... which i forgot which part exactly  ... paiseh (I was tired) ... anyway the verse talk about that we should worship God with all we have. He pointed that it is okay to worship God with what we can (Metal) ... what is important is our heart and our longing for worshipping God. However, he reminded that we can not play it during the service or in the church, some people may not like it.

so one has to be sensitive to the feelings of those who do not like "heavy" music? what if i said gospel and most normal praise and worship music offends me on a purely musical level, would my feelings be acceded to?

heck,if zao were playing i would have no problem stepping into a church.

satan too was a musician before he was cast down by God.

well they always said the devil had the best tunes...

ha ha ha ... cant help it lah ... my church is a presbyterian church ... very traditional ... the music is done by a pipe organ and sometimes with a piano playing along ... that's why he said that

aha, some christian group of some sort said spongebob was a homo cause in an episode, he and partick were naked in bathing in the same bath tub.

aahahaha hilarious yes i know but its just so weird!
