Just send them an email at the following with the model number and what you want to know. They should respond within the next day.

sales@gmx.yamaha.com.

Hopefully, this thread can be the official Yamaha price check thread. You send the email about what you want, and share the reply here.

I'll share the reply I got:

------------------------------------------------------------
Me: I am interested in purchasing the Yamaha Musashi Oak 13" x 6.5" snare NSD-1365M. I would like to find how how much it is, and if it is currently in stock.

Yamaha: I am sorry but we do not have this stock but we can order for you at it takes 4 mths for shipment arrival. The retail price after GST is $520.94.
------------------------------------------------------------

FOUR MONTHS 8O Custom make for me is it?

wait for the wind direction to change so the ship can move what ,

why never reply them ask why so long ?

just imho(cud be wrong though)

The practise among the bigger shops round here is that they dont just do a one off order. Usually will have to consolidate a certain amount of orders first before they order...

Haha welcome to my world. Cymbals take 3-6 months to come in if i ordered. Although they're the main retailers of Zildjian and Yamaha, they never seem to have enough in stock.

Yeah, that seems to be the case, which is rather sad. Sad for the consumer but makes great business sense for the company.

Because that's usually a small-shop practice - you don't have enough floor space to display a sufficient range of products, you can only get what you know from experience is in demand and moves fast.

But I guess the shops we look to as big shops (SL, MS..) have to adopt small-shop practices when facing the realities of a small population/market. There's just very little people to buy the stuff brought in.

Let's move to the US  Damn, I can earn US$10-12/hr as a waiter there, about S$3-$4k per month.

im abit shocked with this. in Zildjian's catalogue, it is stated there that Singapore is the main headquarters for Asia region. If in Spore itself must take about 4 months, i wonder if i ordered Zildjian from Bentley.. 1 year??? 8O

Drums is not in much demand in Singapore. Therefore Yamaha doesnt have a warehouse for all these percussion instruments. As weckl said, the selling power is not there, so you could say that Zildjians are quite hard to get in Asia. Best to order form the US yourself.

Yeah, just by looking at soft you can get a rough idea.

Both sections are for gear talk, no prizes for guessing which is Drums and which is Guitars. :)

actually not a bad thing also.

Unless the drummers here like to see thread like whats the best snare, fiercest cymbal, longest drumstick, can i sound like ____(fill in blank with famous drummer) if i get this stick, throne, kick or tom?

Heh, less is good, sometime!

Haha, I don't mind seeing more threads of that sort.

If it means there are more drummers in SG..
THEN
There are more people buying drum gear...
THEN
Hopefully the shops will be better stocked because they can be confident about moving stuff they bring in.

It's a small price to pay for a better range of goods to experience first hand

haha, actually if you want to experience like the angst of guitarers in soft guitar forum, must breath like guitarer first.

Talk too much, whether try or never try before

Always wonder how the next GAS item sound like even when havent really play enough of the gear they have

become forum police, once see anyone got other views on same gear, will start fireball, thunder lightning etc

Actually even when theres more guitarers, but most still buy gear coz they need. If most buy what they want instead of need. Then maybe got hope.

Small island, cant be help i guess.

Yeah, I do understand the situation in the guitar side, that's why I mostly lurk there and hang here more. Btw, I'm also a guitarist. I've played guitar longer than I've played drums:wink:

One thing that's great being a guitarist, just look at the number of guitar shops vs drum shops. I've got a lot more axes to try and test, and a lot more shops to go to, as compared to snare drums & cymbals. If you kenna GAS, chances are, the item you're looking at, you're able to try it and get it without a 3-4 month wait.

My example above, the Yamaha Musashi Oak snare is by no means a boutique or high-end item, well within the 'standard' range (US$200+), but Yamaha SG themselves don't even stock ONE piece. When it comes to guitars, they have no problems bringing in the whole range, AEX, SA, RGX, AES, SG...

Indeed, small island! 8)

heh, we are still better than some other countries though. Not too bad.

Sometime when we look from buyer side, hard to see business side of things.

haha, that reminds me. Sometime guitarers also complain about not having enough choices locally, for amp, for the things they are looking for etc.

We are always not satisfied i guess.

indeed not satisfied.

if i were to order a snare drum for exmaple, i make sure i save up enough liao, i really want the snare, den i go order, den i can appreciate.

after that long wait for it to arrive, i maybe can do some justice to the snare cos i practice long enough on my lousy stuff already...

if everywhere got sanre shops, den sg drummers, buy, dont like alr buy a newer one, then we become like guitarists and their pedals... 99999 pedals also not enough...

hurrr

But you don't even get to try it before you order

Well, not all guitarists want 99999 pedals, I'm one of the few who prefer multi-efx!

=(

I waited 5 months for my 13" A Custom Mastersound Hi-Hats...lol
How i wish they could stock up a lil more, but den again cymbals are based on individual preferences...thus there might not be a "most bought" cymbal, every Zildjian has its own sound and use...and also not everyone in SG plays Zildjian lol... Hhmmz planning on ordering an A Custom Projection Crash 18". If i order from the US where can i order from? How long will it take to come?

My current setup

13" A Custom Mastersound Hi Hats
16" A Custom Crash
22" K Custom Ride

*If only we could have a cymbal vault for us to choose from....to try out almost every cymbal on the rack. haha dream on i guess...

FIVE FREAKING MONTHS??! 8O You're a very patient guy.

There are plenty of online stores in the US. If you're going for Zildjians, http://www.massmusic.net seems like a good option, the main guy in charge, Andy, is a pretty nice guy.

You could use vpost.com.sg or www.comgateway.com for the shipping.

1 week at least, 2 weeks, max.

i've asked the massmusic but they said they dont send to M'sia.

comgetaway is pretty much the best alternative. have u tried it weckle-x? is it expensive? :?:
