Check this out - Master Controller Keyboard from CHINA!

The fader spoil one, thats why he complain the radium knobs and buttons not sturdy and reliable

whatever dude, i put it on your lap and gave you the opportunity to check it yourself and you said fine. how do you justfiy your claims that i have sold you a broken product and not u breaking it yourself?

i'm not afraid to use my full name for whatever i do because i am able to take the consequences and i won't and have not done anything stupid.

to date you have not even attempted to request nicely for a return and refund, but you're quick to flame me here. if i were to sell you a broken product i wouldn't have have brought u to my house to try it out here before u bring it home. and what with all the time i took to give u a crash course and tutorial on midi basics and operation of the keyboard? seems being nice doesn't count nowadays with ungrateful punks like you running around the country. i wouldn't have revealed my home address to you if i wanted to be dodgy.

anyway. i'm still in the midst of reformatting and restoring my laptop. friend of mine brought his laptop down and the UF7 worked fine on his newly installed system. that'll be another day till i find some free time to play wiht it again.

still haven't found a solution for the expression pedal anyway. went down to city music and discovered that they have the same problem. will email CME to ask.

The expression pedal is bad news. As for your notebook, may I suggest you not using their USB as there are known driver issues. I hate installing new drivers into my system (especially those that don't work well) - messes up my registry. Just use their midi via midi interface. I think it is safer and keeps your notebook cleaner. Oh no, wait... does the UF need USB for power???? I hope it has it's own power adapter.

yeah it has its own AC/DC adaptor in a wall-wart unit with 3 pin plug! just realised that the breath controller works only with AC power. the BC-3 works perfectly. i've been using Midi OX all morning to test the signals transmitted by the keyboard. the expression pedal was detected to be transmitting values from 34 to 127 only. no difference via midi interface.

i've posted on the musicplayer.com forum to see what other users have to say. apparently one guy has had some success with his controller pedal, albeit "a little rough".

hans_zimmer, please check your PM for dealer contact details.

Ok. Looks like expression pedals and UF doesn't go well together. Terrible news. Things like this is usually an inherent problem with circuitry. Any other problems with other CCs? What about the mod wheels and the faders? Is the breath-controller sensitive?

an inherent problem with the circuits, and just as likely with the expression pedal. somebody on the CME forum mentioned that on the TRS jacks of most expression pedals, the output is transmitted on the ring while CME keyboards receive the output on the tip. so i think i'm gonna cross-wire a stereo cable to see if the pedal will work.

as for the breath controller.. sensitivity is dependent on the breath unit and not the keyboard. the jack merely supplies the needed 15V to power the unit and transmit the received signals to the midi translator. i hooked up my BC-3 and voila! it worked perfectly. but the 15V means the keyboard has to be powered via AC; USB power is insufficient(for breath control, as well as AFTERTOUCH). anyway, sensitivity on the breath unit can be adjusted using the "gain" knob and the air-leak valve on the mouth-piece.

What I meant about the breath-controller's sensitivity is whether it is smooth and consistent with your breath.

As for the expression pedal, I hope you get this problem fixed soon.

Aftertouch is the midi signal sent after pressing down the keys. When you press a key, a note plays. While holding that key and pressing it further down, it will trigger the aftertouch. They are usually programmed as vibrato, portamento, triggering of another sound/sample or other effects.

luzer, i got it direct from the distributors. not from citymusic. the UF7 is currently priced at $662 i think, or possibly less. are you getting one?

tat's a good price!

to bring a 88-key controller for gig is overkill,
a 61-key controller can't meet the demand of a normal piano comping.

76-key controller is just enough to get the job done.

Yea, I'm definitely interested in buying the UF7 but not now lol....some time soon....but i definitely will....my Radium 61 is not doing it for me cuz i cant do it with 61 keys lol

iansoh - thanks for the PM, i'll reply you in a few days abt it

oh by the way, dont mind my shameless plugging, check out the open mic thread "depression". I made it and my first time posting it here lol...comments are appreciated and especially from fellow keyboardists like you guys!! We keyboardists should be more active there as well, instead of just guitarists hogging the area :p lol kiddin!!

I went to PALA on Friday and checked out some cool stuff, one of them being Native Instruments....lol i might wanna get it soon.....anyway, i checked out the UF8 as well and i tried the key action........the feel when pressed down is just right but the 'bounce' doesnt feel good. Like the keys were slow to return to its original position. But i have no worries about the 76 key version tho.....lol

oh, and if you buy CME keyboards, you'll get a VST instruments cd with it too.

bong! i thought u would have gone for it! it's over already though.

actually i beg to differ about the UF8 keys. it's the key going down that isn't smooth. brand new set that hasn't been seasoned at all, so the keys still a little too stiff and it might be difficult to produce a really low velocity note cos u have to exert to overcome this "initial resistance. a bit like playing a harpsichord. whereas the up-action response is pretty good, that's the way a weighted keyboard should be. to me it was comparable to that of a grand piano. i've played on grand pians that are even 'slower'.

the company that's bringing in the UF keys is also bringing in sampletank chinese instruments library. pretty cool! i can't really say much abt them, but they sounded pretty usable to me.
