hi all, im currently using an ESP B-10 beginners bass. im thinking of changing its pickups with the EMG ones. any one who's using the same bass has any opinions on that? and how do i go about changing the pickup?

will appreciate your comments. thanks =D

hi there, what kind of sound/tone quality are you looking for? something bright, mids or dark, rumbling and growly. Active/passive pickups? Note that different kinds of pickups can give u different sounds - for EMGs, I've used them in the past and they've got a bright sound - some say almost "glassy" which is not to every bassist's taste and a little bit too bright even for slap, in my opinion only.

So you might want to research reviews of pickups at Harmony Central and Bass Player magazine to get a feel for the different kinds of pickups.

As for installing the pickups, a good luthier would set you right, such as Beez. Don't recommend doing it yourself unless you know your way around electronics diagrams and soldering irons.

hey there , you're in luck , i'm using that particular bass with EMGs . imo , i think the EMGs will suit the b-10 , gives it more punch and slightly abit of growl to the sound . trust me you won't regret changing it . about changing it , dont do it yourself , find some pro to do it , like beez for example or maybe try byleft , they do a good job of changing pickups and basically all sort of maintenance .

you can find beez at Roxy Square 2 , #01-125 and byleft at Parklane Shopping Mall , #03-18 .

if want a fuller , rounder sound , go for emg then . gives you more punch also , thats what i feel la , since you're modding the exact same bass i own .
