Wait till you start finding tone from amps, then you know whats it's all about. Collecting actual amps is the ultimate pursuit for tone. Build that wall of sound!!!

bro... in singapore context its HDB!!! HDB!!!! how to crank even that 15W amp?

Heehee.... I think those who are rich enough to collect high end amps, likely are in the profile of staying on landed property.

Haven't stopped some of fellow softies from having JCM or Mesa stacks staying in HDB. Same goes for acoustic drumsets in HDB too, there are always them there.

bro... where's the fricken distortion pedal bro???? how to shred without a distortion pedal bro???  from zakkwylde site some more... sighs.

anyway to the thread starter. Only you will know what you need for your music. If you were to ask me I'd probably tell you my dream pedalboard.... wait... i've got already more than what i need.

AND! if you're not even sure now what pedals you need, please don't get a pedalboard now. Play around until you're confortable with your setup then shop around for a pedalboard. Cos there's always a pedalboard too small for that one last pedal thats essential or you'll be sick of lugging along a pedal board that too damn big with only 3 essential pedals on it.

Oi!!! Check the rest of the pics lah. The guy is using a Marshall stack or something. Amp channel switch can or not??

And WTF??? Bro, these guys play metal, bro. What the hell do they need a friggin' distortion pedal for, bro??? Prolly, the hi-gain is on ALL THE TIME, bro. Bro, they get all the gain they need from their Mesa Boogie Quadrple Rectifier (WTF??? It's not out yet!!! Even Apple is coming out with a G5 Powerbook soon!!!) or Marshall JCM-10,000!!!

I've a friend who places his JCM-800 full stack in his bedroom and he plays in the living room. The volume is on ard 1.5 - 2. You can hear him 2 blocks away. Lovely...

So far, no cops yet.

khai_stereotype, it doesn't matter what music you play lah. What you want on your board is entirely up to you. How you want to line them up is also up to you. As long as you are happy...

You can have this...

or this...

Just work and save the money if you really want to buy the pedals you want... That's what everyone does. These crazy fuckers did as well. They have bills to pay, etc. It's up to you to choose if you really want that pedal or that made-in-China Bathing Ape T-shirt to impress that girl-next-door...

Or you could buy the damn pedal and rock the walls down at a gig, thereby impressing the people of the opposite gender. That way you get the pedals AND the girls.

This is, of course, assuming that you can pull it off...

haha...would someone play just to impress...i duno...but in a way..i did. =X

back in primary sch, i liked this girl in p5, and somewhere in p6, she told me over the phone tt she liked guys who could play the guitar. after that, a plan unfolded. hehe... saved up like about $200 bucks by end of sec1, then got my mom to fork out the rest.

one pac112m, one crate 12watter, one danelectro grilled cheese.

four years later, after a number of guitars and pedals, i'm playing for the love of it, and am still loving it.

was it successful? yeah...we did get together, though NOT so much because i played the guitar...haha..and it was really good while it lasted...

so....moral of teh story... i dunno. =X

equalizer
chorus
distortion
crybaby wah

what else am i missing?

Budget setup
Chorus - EHX Small Clone (True bypass IIRC)
Distortion - Line 6 Uber Metal (Not a fan of pedal distortion personally)
Wah - Vox or any crybabies should suit your needs.
Equalizer - Boss GE7
Delay - Digitech Digidelay
Compressor - Ross clone or orange squeezer substitue (not going to be cheap if you want something decent)
Overdrive - Boss DS1
Phaser - EHX Small Stone

Significantly better and more expensive setup
Chorus - Analogman Bi-Chorus
Distortion - Mesa V-Twin, EHX English Muffin, Tonebone Hot British
Wah - Teese RMC 3 (Best wah you can get for money IMO)
Equalizer - I would skip it.
Delay - Toneczar Echoczar, Maxon AD9, EHX DMM
Compressor - Keeley Compressor, Analogman Bi-Comp
Overdrive - Any true bypass Tubescreamer and likes, such as Fulltone OCD and such
Phaser - EHX Small Stone
