Can a shop or private owned area impose its own age limits?

Just had a thought, can a shop impose its own age limit?

can it put a sign outside that says "only persons aged 25 and above may enter" and enforce it?

I don't see why not. Velvet Underground has a minimum age set for its patrons of 21 for ladies and 23 for gentlemen. You afraid that music shops impose age limits for testing of equipment?

I guess you can, but what kind of business do you run? If you keep people out, it might not be very good for your business. "Ignorant" teens can be good customers too. I know that first hand. You'll actually be losing out. And not every teenager is ignorant :)

how about this: i intend to keep ignorant teenagers out of my way. :D

Then you should be conducting IQ tests at the door. Well-informed young people can have a lot of spending power these days.

Seriously though if you run a business you should be consulting a professional, not some forum.
