Switchblade Symphony
Razed in Black
Frontline Assembly

woot! Yes Yes! you are on the right thread :)

Razed in black plays mostly covers though and they are of the new breed of EBM acts that goes more in the trance direction. You will also like Aslan Faction and Pride and Fall. Frontline Assembly is hardhitting. 'Plasticity' is a track most goth jocks keep till the part of the night when everyone is on the floor.

Switchblade has alot of very experimental and ambient sounds. The remix albums are great

wow. Industrial.
tho not a big fan but i do give them a listen sometimes. And when i say "them" i mean nin and old filter. ( please don't flame me )
Anyway. are there any local industrial acts?

local industrial acts: Me, Panopticon, Dualtone and (Arguably) Front line sound system

i would love london after midnight!!!!

muahaha

how bout cruxshadows!!!!

Yes! I was given an offer to bring LAM to singapore, but seriously I doubt we'll even get 50 people which is why I'm trying to promote this sound.

Cruxshadows: They just toured with Angelspit recently (last year)

I've been listening to Gothic Metal lately. Bands of that genre totally ruled Finland.

Poisonblack, Charon, Entwine, For My Pain, TO/DIE/FOR, Before the Dawn... And the legendary, SENTENCED.

Pretty much an underrated genre... So anyone who's new to metal, and dislike guttural vocals, growls, screams, pig squeal, maybe lend your ears to these bands...

HIM, Sinamore, The 69 Eyes are more of Gothic Rock than Metal.

HIM played a Mera Luna before, but the other bands are recognised as being belonging to metal (our sister scene). Sentenced is great by the way.

Things are mostly EBM/Industrial in the global market these days, with the new breed of goth bands classifying themselves "future pop" (iris) and "neo-goth" (razed in black)

did you guys read the newpaper? a girl was killed just cos she and her boyfriend dressed gothic. whats with the world today? everyone has the freedom of choosing what to wear!!

that's pretty old news. (About the gothic murder)

regarding the chalet: I'm looking at 19/20th April. Its going to cost $198.00, so will need everyone to chip in a little.

Any more takers?

how many of you like the following bands?

1. VNV Nation
Don't like the vocals, not very much into futurepop anyway. They were famous long before they supported nitzer though....

2. Covenant
First 3 albums good. After that, downhill. Daniel Myer from Haujobb is now a member of Covenant, so maybe things will improve..?

3. London After Midnight
Gothic is not for me.

4. Nitzer Ebb
Of course, legends ! Even though they just ripped off DAF. The real roots of ebm are DAF and 242 from 1981-1983.

5. Noisex
Boring. His DKF side-project is much better. There are many power noise bands a lot better than noisex like imminent, winterkalte, converter etc...

Are there any clubs in Singapore for ebm/industrial ?

PS: Be careful using the term 'industrial'. There are 2 meanings:

1) the proper meaning, which began in sheffield in the 1970s with bands like throbbing gristle, cabaret voltaire, monte cazaza, leather nun etc etc and then spawned many similar genres which are still present today in labels like cold meat industry, susan lawly, tescorg etc. Experimental/noise basically.

2) the wrong meaning, which unfortunately has become accepted now, which comes from America in the early 1990s, and refers to rock bands that use some electronics like NIN, manson etc

Both terms are in use, but 1) is the truth !!
