Seems like a few people on other forums think that canare make the sound less bright..

canare cables for me have also been microphonic.. ever noticed?

I've experienced microphonic canares too, but only on a 3m long cable. Nothing wrong with the patch cables...

Canare makes diff type 's of cables ...so pls buy the correct type for the intended purpose .... This here is the right type. :wink:

49pF Capacitance/Feet isn't exactly low capacitance.

Belden makes cables that are of higher specs

But for cables... same thing. Bill Lawrence cables rocks. If I remember correctly the capacitance/feet of BL cables are VERY VERY low.

Yes BL is good i do agree but cost effective kind is the want here...and losing to that bit of capacitance will not shy you from becoming a star ...or would it ?!
Yes >> if i am building surgical electronic apparatus i will consider low capacitance....cabwles..cables...(sorry just had lunch)

Example ..there is a solderless type hook-up with all the promising figures on the datasheet that has been a constant pain for musicians being surprised by intermittency ...Thus increasing the income of techs where the blame goes to the instrument not the "worshiped" cables. But if these are a bit cheaper = i will buy them considering the size of the 1/4" and cable and defienately solder the shield/ground...that will do nice.

I use $7 a pop of 5 hook ups...at the moment considering the amount of time my pedal line gets switched...it has done well. I know shred cow doesn't like them ...so might consider an improvement.

Final word ...use what serves your purpose well against budget.
There will always be something better but never the best.

Edder, i've been interested with the B L plugs too but never saw any angled jacks. Its only those "short plugs for pedals".

Microphonics aside, inherant capacitance in a cable is what dulls the signal.

Eg. 50pF/f for ease of calculation. Capacitance measured from HOT of the cable to Ground.

Standard length of cable = 10feet?

50pF x 10 = 500pF

That is equals to soldering at 500pF caps on the HOT/GROUND of a perfect capacitance free cable.

Also a poorly made plug may have its own inherant capacitance issue.

Of course this is just a basic eg. Cable resistance(usually VERY VERY low) and frequency response of the whole mess of things comes to part.

That said, I've never been really bothered about such micro detailed stuff but just for discussion and hoping someone can pick up something from here.

Also to dispel the myths of MOJO cables. Most important technical info to look at from the Audio point of view in cables is Capacitance/Feet. The rest of it comes from construction for regular wear and tear.
