Is that true? I compare the price and found out by using VPOST, i need to pay around $200 to get it ship to singapore..

Do correct me if i'm wrong
( But of course need to test the guitar from local shop b4 finding the model online)

it will still depend on which brand and type of guitar you're buying. Better yet, just wait for quarter or year end sale.

After more than a year of saving, Im planing of buying my ultimate dream guitar. I asked around our local supplier here and I was quoted (lets just say) 6.5k.. So I went to some forums in the web and found someone selling the model that I wanted for only 3.7k and willing to ship here for an additional $300..

Yes its risky, but looking at the 2.5k savings is very tempting. oh well, what to do...

This is what i expeirence, be it effect pedal to guitar, depending on the weight and size. Other than risk of losing the item, you need to pay additional for the insurance for safe handling and not losing the item but still cheaper than what i get in sg.. I would say at least 10% difference in pricing.

you are definitely right.
getting guitar oversea is much more cheaper.

imagine:
1.2k for fender Amercian standard Strato
700 for fender Mexican tele.

you make the calculation after a trip to bras basah.

well im all for buying stuff overseas. good to try first id say but then most of the stuff i have is gotten from overseas, guitar, amp, pedal. only my acoustic is bought locally.

the someone you found selling in a forum ... as in selling brand new ?
your sentence makes it sound like a private seller as opposed to a shop

Buying online, you may not be able to return the guitar
if you find that u do not like it upon receiving it.

gst will add 7% to ( 3.7 + .3 ) = add $320

tsk. your language cmi sia.. i dont even understand u.
u have the experience, why would u be wrong? tsk

tsk. you can't even read... How can you understand

I got things cheaper thru overseas. Just finding out with the rest of the soft forum members if i'm wrong. tsk

mind if i ask.. how come some pedals sold here is so much more expensive than it being shipped in? for example, the voodoo labs sparkle drives retails on proguitarshop for 129.99 USD, do the math and u dont get anywhere near 305SGD.

i'm considering of shipping in a mexican fender standard strat. it goes for 399USD on musicians friend. thats like.. 565SGD not inclusive of shipping

i cant help but wonder how come stuff retail for so much more

coz business here need to survive. They are tied by the manufacturer side, contract, tax, shipping cost, insurance and stuff. Its not just "see price from online shop, convert to sgd using daily rate" thats all.

theres much more things involve then than getting the price, convert it as it is.

ya la..

local shop need to survive wat.

think in the 90s.. before internet days...

those guitar are rocket prices....

now with oversea competition, parallel importers... wow

the price is so much dripping...

that's what globalisation bring?
