heard quite alot of people's views regarding the 535q in the stickies, but heard none so far about the pw-10 v-wah.

intending to get one that sounds good on both clean and dirty settings. so versatility is key. so which do u guys think is better? sound-wise and bang-for-your-buck wise? :lol:

thanks

Personally I'd get a 535Q 1st and then add a PW10. I think of the PW10 like I would a Morley... an interesting shade of wah that's unique. Oh and don't forget the Ibanez Weeping Demon for more variation.

If cost were no object than you must include the Botak, I mean Buddah Wah which is nice for classic wacka wacka or the Switcheroo RMC. Or pay through your nose for a lovely Keeley'd GCB95. :)

All the above are nice in their own way which makes it a matter of choice against budget. :)

so the pw10 has like 'modern' wah tones ala vai?

i tried the 535q. found out that it goes trebly when switched on. havnt got a chance to try out the pw10 though

got two different sellers selling those wahs second hand at the same price. being new to the wah world, naturally i was torn at what to purchase. anybody care to post the pros and cons of both?

New to the wah world?

Get a 2nd hand Crybaby 535q, go to Randolf and have him mod it.

Believe me, the different modes of the 535q, will allow you to tailor your sound, and let you experiment somewhat.... plus, the essential mods, true bypass, better pot etc etc, will make it a good wah. Also, it has a volume boost switch there, excellent for hi gain.

I think that makes the most sense.

tks embroyo and sherdcow :D new to the world of wah :lol:

ah regarding the mods, i read in the stickies that there's a fasel (?) mod? about yellow and red fasel or something like that..i dont quite understand that thing. anyone care to elaborate?

apparently the 535Q is already true bypass

plus its equipped with the real red fasel

so actualyl im pretty lack-of-info on your mod Randolf! :)

tell us tell us :D

Aiyooo, i kena scold oredi for saying too much abt 535q wah. apparently saying too much good stuff about good stuff is not buyer friendly... sorry arh!

Ok once again hopefully not in a long while.... THE 535Q Wah;

The good stuff
1. its true bypass
2. 6 way wah voice select including the crybaby and jimi hendrix
3. q knob adjust from classic to modern
4. up to 16db volume boost knob
5. volume boost kick switch. in for super satirated out for classic wah sound.

The not so good stuff
1. The q and volume knobs/pot are fragile
2. The inductor is only red or rather a variant of it

mods for the 535q

1. Fine adjust of individual or all 6 of the voices! (nice if you know what u really want)
2. Side mount rocker select switch for Red or Yellow Fasel Inductor! (very nice!)
3. LED status indicator (nice but not necessary)

:D

randolf ah

the yellow the fasel ar... whats the advantage... it supposed to be more vocal and less aggressive than the red if im not wrong? or am i

namle ah, ok go get jimi hendrix the 2nd album "axis bold as love" and listen to the 2nd track called "up in the skies" very jazzy funky cool tune and listen closely to the wah's sweep character. it's got a more sinewy kinda "euuuuwwweeee" hehehe. That's how i describe the yellow fasel sound which is supposedly the character of the vox wah.

very different wah sound on jimi's "voodoo chile".

so in short i describe yellow fasel as;
"oooooohuuuuuwwwweeee"

red fasel i describe as... leme see oh, ok ;

arrrrrwwwwwarrrrrrhhhhheeeeee"

"gurgle, gurgle... phhhhtuuuiiii!" ok i brushed my teeth oredi so i go sleep soon ya. :)

I have a childhood fren of mine who comes by the house now and then just to plug in and play good old 80's rock with me.

He plugged his old time Ibanez Roadstar into my Chrome boy 535Q, switched between the voicings and describe the sound as
"Woah! Rendroff, your wah wah arh sound like Urtraman MONGSTER man!" how much, how much?!!!

LOL!

2 extra switch

1. RED or YELLOW fasel switching
2. HALO or STOCK CRYBABY inductor

oh and not to forget those pots?! fulltone, RMC?

wait can they even fit? i see the fulltone pot doesnt seem to fit in

Yeap, a fulltone pot can fit in lah... :D

At least in a vox wah... nicer sweep to my ears.

but then my RMC2 came along... :twisted:

Unless you have loads of spare cash to blow and want that feelgood "I have a perfect 100kohm Fulltone or better still Icar Taper pot!!! Yay!!!" The taper pot upgrade is the most expensive but the least significant improvement imho. The inductor upgrade is more significant. Yes I use a rocker side switch for selecting between the red or yellow. Now if only I can get that wah back from loan! Heh! :) Sigh!

inductor inductor

but isnt this wah runs on a fasel right?

squeez in where for the inductor... i believe can take out the fasel and replace the inductor in?
