Mt2, Good Or Bad?

IMHO, the mt2 can be considered a good pedal.
but for tone, it may leave much to be desired. but i found out that, when you use an mt2, u do have to take in a lot of factors.
you'd HAVE to factor in your guitar's inherent qualities, the amp's inherent qualities, your playing, and your volume, tone on guitar and eq on the amp. it CAN sound good when stock, BUT you'd really need to spend about the same amount of time u'd spend tweaking a GT-8 to get a good sound out of it.

just my two rupees.:)

a great pedal when stock. an even greater pedal when modded. definetly not meant for your low distortion type...hence its name people..

if it's too fizzy or nasal, go and mod it.
it'll take away the mosquito sound. and the MT-2 needs to be tweaked alot. ALOT of time needs to be spent sitting down and getting the right tone.

your amp needs to be properly tweaked too in order to NOT make the distortion too "static" to listeners.

So my advice...MT-2 is not the greatest of pedals nor the worst..but it works.

people ask me to get a noise suppressor when i play with my MT-2. hah

Use less gain.

That's the problem... metal players see it, take it, dim the gain. Then complain about the noise/hiss/buzz/feedback...

Go easy on the gain.

Stock, it has way too much gain already, just go easy on it - don't need a lot of gain to chug, turn up your volume a little more.

And use noise cancelling pickups.

So what happens if I dime the gain AND turn up the volume?

Then you'd have a WMD in your hand's and Bush will send his troops to invade your house and train your family and siblings to keep order in the house after he brings you to the Hague to hold a trial. :)

I like MT2. To me, it has that natural rock tone. Another one that I like would be Tonebone Plexitube, sounds power to me.....

selected 'metal' tagged pedals do sound good for crunch settings. eg:

I wld say that it just fulfils it's role as a metal pedal for players on tighter budgets. Modded, it can produce more workable tones. But, there are better pedals for the price, the Beta Aivin HM200 being 1 of them. Not exactly high on my ratings list but not too low either.

I'm sure there will always be some pedal that straddles itself nicely in the middle, but not being able to be the best in either department. I thought I could get my Crunchbox to do a Tubezone OD, and my Blackstar to do a Crunchbox. I end up needing to use all 3... They all need to be present for all my uses... and tones.

Damn... I better get myself a epi valve jr then. I dun want no trouble. :p

Ur the dude getting a PHD! Tell me!

I don't know either. Maybe I'll spend another 4 years writing another thesis on it. :D

its actually really good and versatile IF you know how to use it well. its all in the equalizing!!

yeah.. modded ones sound good to me, never heard stock one though
but there is alittle bit of compressed sound...
still like it alot though :)
yay!! mt-2 winning in votes

I like the MT-2 (yes, even stock) and it's worked for me to get a decent out of the box pseudo recto scooped sound for chunking thrashy death metal low-end; don't fancy it quite so much for my lead tone preferences.

I personally favour the Digitech Death Metal over the MT-2 for Death Metal rhythm sounds - does exactly what it says on the tin.
