i have this crazy, stupid assignment for my extra module..
god, im in poly and i have to do a secondary school shit..
i have to prepare a report and presentation for a topic called
'“We should be allowed to write whatever we want when writing Blogs.”Discuss..

i have to state the types of punishment the singapore have to give for bloggers who go over the line..
u know, like the offend a racial group or something..
or maybe u all can give me examples also on the previous cases of blogging also..
the only one i can remember is tammy nyp..

im running out of ideas and facts..
anyone here knows anything abt the punishments?
anyone here is a police officer or lawyer here?

i know this is lame, but when u read abt the previous cases, it'll blow u away..
there was this guy in china who was beaten to death by govt officials for protesting in his blog against the govt for dumping garbage near their homes..

hey, regarding ur comment- im actually doing interior design..
not any other courses relating to essays or writings..
if u tell me to write an essay on an architecture movement, or an art movement, or any philosophical issues, im okay with that, cuz im interested in those things..
i'd be okay to pick up a damn thick book and read it if its abt these mentioned topics..

I've done Google searches. All seem to show that he was arrested, but none seem to show what punishments were meted out to him. Wonder if anyone knows?

i read that he got arrested, then released upon making a public apology..
but then, i think i read that he still has the racial hatrecy going there..except that now his blog is now protected by a password..only his racist friends can read it..

now the gov allows for political blogs and movies to be made, (as long as they're factual) however civil servants are still not allowed to blog about their worklife.

Hi, please do click on the link above (and while you're at it, please read it as well) provided by bro Jugman before claiming i made racist remarks. I am a Malay and i don't see a need to critisize my own race.

Bro, facts can be easily obtained from the Internet by just searching. THe Internet is an informative media. -.-

I'm sure there are articles on blogging. Go ST online and check. If not, use Google. Also, if you want to know a little about the laws of Singapore, search for it too. I'm sure you can find them with some effort.

As a personal blogger and knowing a little about law, we can get arrested for making racist and political-offensive comments that the authorities do not disagree with. For example, Gopalan Nair was recently charged by our exemplary judiciary system for insulting and doubting the independence and sovereignty of the court on his blog.

Also, I'm sure you have heard of people making racist comments on their blogs and getting caught.

Rockassmonster, little piece of advice, maybe try veering away from all the solid facts at some point in your assignment? It would make your work less boring for you and for whoever is marking and that should get you a higher grade. Maybe opinions? Or anything not so rigid. Can't think of any good examples now though:?:
