Khalid Mobin of Rusty Blade...awesome.
I've seen played some arabic influenced stuff back in yamaha Plaza Singapura.
Jaw dropping.
I believed Paul will second dat

for sure i will 2nd that. He's originally a horn player in his early years, turned mean shredder in the late 70s, with jazz n classical backgrounds. His arabic licks are superb, not your typical Harmonic minor - straight ahead improvs. very Gambus-ish [arabic ethnic guitar] style. I Like :) A very down to earth professional, i've met who pawns fretboards in studio and stage effortlessly. Respects \m/

However, my pick for the new generation of ownage = 2 Banis from B-quartet. Bluesy, Jazzy, Funky, Rock, Metal. Live on stage with the presentation and vocal harmony strength.

2 Banis from B-quartet

yeah man.. =)

and mr paulo, no need any boutique stuff, he can just play and whack.. =) any guitar, any amp, cheap or expensive. come on. you hear him, he'll do justice to even the cheapest guitar around. so long it got sound and is playable.. =)

for me,it would have to be Justin Ho and Paul Ponnodurai...
There's also this dude called issac who covers for paul at the esplanade at times, talented and very nice guy....

By the way, just a quick sideline, paul is actually M'sian if im not wrong.... :D

How about the lead guitarist of the Mean Machine playing at Crazy Elephant. He's awesome at playing blues and bluesy rock.

Paul Danial tops my rock list. Dhalif for his prodigious playing.

But really as some have said, there're many out there who don't show up in public gigs, but hole up in the studio, like I do.

Maybe the topic should have been more specific. Or we could classify the top 10 in different genres...

How about in this forum? Like killinghall, shredcow, dhalif, sofyan, embryo, paulo, chanmin, blueark, metallibeast and many more.

Here are some of my guitar heroes in this forum. Tks guys for giving me all the inspirations and knowledge for my journey to be a better player. U kick ass dude!!!

hey noel, i think you're referring to john chee. Yeah, he's a great guitar player for blues-rock stuff. And plays slide well too. He's one of the best guitar players here in singapore I think, considering his minimalist set-up:
Fender american '62 vintage reissue strat > crybaby wah(old one, i think) > small all-tube laney amp(probably 20 watts). He's also a nice person. You can talk to him about some guitar or music stuff after a performance.

:smt078 :smt078 :smt078 :smt078

how to?? like the ones yamaha always organised?? coz like ragestone says... there are quite a few who dun actually join competitions and remain low-prof... so even if u keep winning those competitions.. who knows... there mite be someone better than u... and even so... diff people has diff musical paths... u cant actually compare eg. yngwie malmsteen with bb king now dun you?

so IMHO, theres no best... juz better in each musical areas...

clinton carnegie -- fantastic player/jaw breaker
paul daniel -- awesome technique and rock maestro
paul pannadorai ( dunno spell correctly or not) -- awesome performer
this skin head chinese guy from living strings -- Preston reed of singapore. Acoustic god..

these so far ive seen them play and died at their feet... well thats my list.. 8O

John Chee is freakin fantastic. If you have any interest in the blues or Hendrix you should check him out.
