Behringer wah - any comments?

wats it cost at Luthers? saw at for $75 at Mikemann n at Ranking - if Luther's cheaper then...

When you going down? I'm meeting Ichiro on Sunday afternoon, was thinking of going down to try out some of the pedals too. See if they are worth modding or rehousing.

Im gettin the dude at Dan Music to get it for me from Ranking. As repairers for Rankin they get special discounts so it look slike the best deal for me...probably pick it up on sat...Sun family day... 8)

Jus got my Behringer hellbabe wah pedal y'sday - here's my FR:

theres no on/off switch - automatically kicks into wah mode when u step on and kicks out when u step off - godsend man...no more clicking away etc.

The wah frequency knob is great & versatile - wah sweeps from low to high so its even suitable for bass. Further more the effect setting can also be dialed invia the Q and fine controls - nice , nice...

Boost - has an added boost switch that REALLY adds 15db of punch to the overal output. You may dial in a matching output or just leave the boost off - another plus point.

LED lights for wah on/off and boost.

9V battery or adaptor (optional)

At $75 a steal - I got it cheaper - highway robbery.

Traditional wahplayers may find it "diffiernt" but if you open your mind to it - its worth a go.

Check it out.

My verdict: 9/10

Sounds like a Morley.. :)

How does the tone compare? Say, a Crybaby and a Morley Bad Horsie?

How is the sweep of the wah?

at max level - its still doesnt have the killer dunlop frequency. A bit more modern than traditional soundingactually but like I said - needs a bit of "opening up" to it...DEFINATELY value for $

Sounds like killer value for money!

How's the fit and construction? Sturdy?

Is this wah digital or analog? Hehe... modding ideas coming in.

its definately workable... i'll keep it till i'm earning stable $$...

i think its how u use the wah that makes ur overall music sound good... not really how the wah sounds that makes u sound pro...

stepping it anyhow while playing wouldn't give the best results

I was doing some reading up and as suspected from cheap plastic stuff, the reliability is very bad. Most common problem is where the optical sensor goes mad and thinks your foot is on the pedal all the time, hence no bypass. Most people got around it by installing a footswitch ala crybaby.

The plastic pots are also known to fail, as well as the plastic cable jacks.

When your unit fails you can sell me, I'll buy it for half price k :D

blue ark - tell U wat, I will give another FR in 3 months tyme (after the honeymoon period) to update all and see if U were proven right...

in response to some of the queries, the construction is surprisingly good. The knobs are garish chrome plastic and even if the jacks & knobs fail they are easily replacecable.

Compare to Morley? I'd say Morley has a slightly higher "spike" in the wah range but this baby def is up there tone wise as well.

It's def digital not analog wah...

Behringer has been bringing in stuff from mixers etc in the past and now effects etc to give the big boys a run for the money.... Im interested to check out their other stuff now...

cheers

Hmmm... only for the budget concious I would think? So far, I have no heard or read or seen a Behringer efx pedal that would be a serious tone contender, other than the GDI series, like the other "budget" pedal maker, DOD.
