Beginners unite!

woah.. im really bad at acoustic.. but I hope I could be better at it..
I wanna join too!! have lots of things to learn, oh ya anyone can teach me some theory too? lol, I got this book I bought from justinguitar, according to justin , he says its possible to memorise the fretboard in 2 weeks or so but I can't do it.. , epecially when I switch guitars in between acoustic and classical..

Suure.

For now, I'll see the responses next week and I will also need another or 2 more lau jiaos to join me also since I can't be the only one teaching guitar to all the beginners. It will be more fun also, as we each have our own unique styles of playing as to promote diversity.

Eh...really lah, all those can play guitar one, support me leh! EugeneSmasher, LadyinTears, Godspeed all these people dun shy lah! lol

And also instead of this being some show and tell type of guitar session, this will be more of a dialogue session. That means most of the time you will be bombarding me (or us) with whatever you want to know about the guitar, what you are trying to play and how we can help you, what techniques you must use and what not. I wanna make this session as interactive as possible.

First order of business though.

gannie, you live near the Henderson Bridges there issit? Okay, assuming that we might have it on a saturday afternoon, I need you to help me recce that wether there will be a lot of people using the shelters. I predict there will be a lot of people even on a friday evening if you check it out. If there is, we will be relocating to Hong Lim Speakers corner in Outram. Also, I think there are also guitarists here who are unfamiliar to get to Henderson so do kindly provide us the directions via MRT or Bus......or car. Me too.

Secondly, I don't mind if there are a few number of people showing up, but whatever you do, PLEASE DON'T BANG SEH ON ME LAST MINUTE! I don't want any bull crap like when I already reach either Henderson or Hong Lim then you all call me and say you all got something on and stuff. You either make yourself free on that day or you inform me like at least 2 days before the gathering that you can't make it so that I know at least I won't be playing alone to a wall and making a wasted trip.

Thirdly...lol, I think is quite obvious but please do bring your own acoustic guitar along. It will be very inconvenient for me and the other beginners/lau jiaos to keep passing guitars around once we show our stuff and letting you try out. It will be quite awkward. Been there done that.

Yeah I think that's about it. Also if you want to also make this a killer chill out gathering, you guys can also bring stuff like chips and drinks. Not bee hoon or all that picnic stuff ah! Don't think they will allow it in the shelters. Except East Coast.

OKAY, that being done. I will be making up a list of you guys who wanna turn up for this thing. I will be waiting for serene to come back from holiday first, so we won't leave her out.

Alright, tentatively the date will be on the 2nd of May at Henderson Bridges. But something tells me we'll be doing it at Hong Lim instead. No biggie though.

Cheer's everybody. Hopefully the response is good.

haaaa this 2 venues! 1 of them near my house. 1 of them near my office.

A year ago I went for a free trial lesson with Simon Lai and he taught me something which can help you in memorizing the fretboard. I know nuts about theory but it works somehow. Will be showing it to you at the gathering. ;)

I really look forward to seeing you guys.

simon lai is a great teacher i have to agree,

Just bring what you can loh...

Nevermind, you can be the cameraman for this small S.O.F.T gathering hehehehehe..

Kidding..

cool! this gathering is sure to be big. but i don't have and acoustic, only a classical but i'm planning to buy 1 hopefully before the gathering!

Well, for the moment this gathering is for one time only, BUT if all goes well for this first time, I'll see wether I can make it a weekly thing, depending wether I have time also.

What I hope to happen in future is that I can get much more experienced or REAL professional guitarists with many many years of playing as one of our guests to come and hopefully give us all much more detailed pointers and to answer all of your queries. Note that I am only your average guitarist with ok-ok knowledge only so don't expect that much from me from the first session. I play guitar pretty much like everybody does.
