Hey softies,

I'm a total newbie to playing Guitar, or rather, in a whole to music. I've no ideas about musical notes but I do listen to music a lot (this can be worked on, ofc).

So... recently I'm really interested to pick up guitar and I borrowed a guitar from my sis temporarily. One of her strings broke off and I was wondering where can I get a re-string for my whole guitar? And on general, how much does it costs? Thanks!

(Unsure whether this is the right thread to post in but I think it's for newbies like myself)

@jaguero - take a walk at excelsior or peninsula. There's alot of shops to choose from. U could get one of the shops to help u string but its costly and stringing is a basic thing to learn to do yourself. As for the strings itself depend on what guitar u are using. Classical, acoustic and electric guitars all use different strings. read around the forums, there's alot of thread regarding strings :)

Hey MonkeyVibrations,

Thanks for your advices. Peninsula Plaza I assume so?

Oh, alright, it seems hard to string a guitar by myself for a beginner, but I guess I'll still look up on info on how to string my classical guitar. :)

hey its easy. if you need a demo, just youtube it. you can search for justin sandercore's video under restring acoustic. its the same as classical.

Hey guys!

Today went quite well, although I kinda observed that the group got smaller ever since the very first gathering. It was still good anyway...

Taught noobzpro the pentatonic minor scale and how to solo. Also I showed the shinigami some ideas on improvisations while jamming to a chord progression.

And Matt brought his electric! I had to go off at 5 plus but I had "no choice" lol. He even brought a portable Marshall amp and a metal distortion effect pedal as well. Agh, was a slave to it for quite some time and it was a shred beauty.

I gotta admit we all learned somethign from each other today. Can't wait for the next gathering =)

Hey Immortal,

I've checked out a couple of stringing videos at first and I had little ideas about what they were doing at first until I checked out Justin's videos. I've got to say his a really good teacher in YouTube I guess. I think I'll follow his lessons when I stringed my guitar. :)

Anyway guys, I was thinking of getting a cheap acoustic guitar to start as well, since my classical guitar might be returned to my sis after I stringed it. Just wondering what might be some of the recommendations that you guys might have for a beginner guitar? Preferably around the range of S$200-S$300? :)

Sorry for so many questions..

oh yea remember practice the power chord thing it's very important must really get used to it. well for those who stayed on for my "guitar clinic" u know what i'm talking about
