beginner guitarists gathering

gas is like u don't know how to play but act like know how to play, just smoke through
liquid is like u don't know how to play and you play like you don't know how to play.
solid is you know how to play and u play very power!!

whoa, i wonder what chemistry teachers would reply when they learn about this... definitely wana see their reaction
are those local terms?

that would depend on what kinda metal your talking about, but oh well i use my strat for drop tunings tho they dont sound very but still it beats resetting the fr unit.. lol

hmmm some songs like those from megadeth and iron maiden can still be done in E standard. but even then some of their songs are done in drop D or one step down. well i use strat for most of my metal stuff that doesnt require more than 21 frets lol. but thats only cos i'm still fking noob, cant do much. most of the stuff i listen to are down tuned or on 7-stringers like nevermore, COB, sonata arctica etc.

ps. still cant get myself to get a FR-equipped guitar though...re-stringing itself is a problem, dont talk abt changing tuning LOL

hmm restringing isnt a problem mayb if u change gauge it's a problem but retuning on the spot is a problem haha..
anw the reason why some of the maiden songs are in drop d it's because they simply wanted a heavier feel for that particular but the original version was still in standard.. eg die with your boots on, number of the beast powerslave? and such
but haha actually can cheat abit... use fine tuner to drop d lmao but the if it's in c thn :(

if you want to get FR guitar make sure your FR is damn power, u're guitar stays in tune when u whammy basically won't give u a lot of problem, just re string ok lah take me about 45mins, but I use coated strings so only about 1 yr restring 4 to 5 times. tahan a bit lah, you get those cheap FR later everytime go out of tune everytime got to retune that one u save money but you waste time. to me time more precious than money

matt: lol, 45min to restring is one thing, when go those kinda gig in those freezer cells, the string contract then gg alr.

mrkeith: hmmm i think i heard that somewhere before. from adrian smith i think. well, that one way, just hope that those chord progression dont have rapidly changing power chords...if not also gg lol :p

that's why u got to get power power FR then u go in the freezer cell just tune a bit ok le. no need so jia lat. My FR I using is like that I like it very much

lol yea it's from one of his vids.. but personally i prefer to play their songs in standard

@likui hmm i still find restringing not a problem.. the problem really is tuning it lol..
haha im using the stock trem edge 3 bought my that ibanez guitar around 2 years ago..despite bad reviews about the edge 3 trem on the net but mine doesnt seem to have any problems yet lol..
anyway why coated strings on electric guitars i understand if it's on acoustics.. but still coated on electric guitar wont the tone run dead after awhile like normal strings? i tried elixers before.. after afew weeks it ran flat for me .. after that 20+ dollars experience i decided to stick to dr or slinkies

Possible the gathering to be held starting around 1 pm? anw i believe some might be having schl before heading down so yea..
-waiting for further updates-

Ya lah err re string + tuning take me 45 mins. of course tuning will be a problem. The thing about coated string is it can last me at least 3 mths normal strings 3 weeks to 1 mth. Can your ears tell the diff between coated strings and uncoated strings with high gain distortion? because my ears can't so I use them

i dont play much hi gain stuff, but the initially when you change em and lets say after a month or so you definitely can tell the difference.. its almost like the tone sounds blunt or somewhat dull, but thn again thats just me

Haha on clean with a decent amp i'd agree with u...but on any gain channel dirty enough to hear hum from single coils, i can't tell between new and old strings.

personally i wouldnt change my strings just because the tone turns dull.. haha the only prob i have with old strings is the rusting.. it's freaking annoying :/
