BBE Sonic Maximiser... opinions?

if it sounds good to your ears, use it.
as for ear fatigue, its crap. A record or a band playing together produce diff frequencies from diff instruments. not necessarily u'll be listening to high frequency or low frequency all the time. doesn't guarantee u have ear fatigue

A good guitarist doesn't mean he will give u a good/honest answer regarding sound. But a guitar/audio tech can. There isn't many qualified guitar/audio tech here. Go to foreign forums.

I do know if the soundman mixing the sound from a band chooses to mix a lot of cymbals thru, I get very irritated and ear fatigue sets in.

Thats all I know. Honest! :D

that applies for a guitar player tuning his sound...

Amatures I say!!!! One should NEVER hear a guitar player tune onstage!!!!

Mute it and tune, then un-mute. Thats the way!

Well, I duuno. As you say, "There isn't many qualified guitar/audio tech here." and I'm not one of them.

I think a good way to get ear fatigue is thru excessive treble frequencies, to me. Perhaps you can help enlighten me on how ear fatigue is crap?

ShredCow

u r in a diff story altogether..ppl hearing or not is another issue

what i meant is same applies for a guitarist..i dont not know if a guitar player chooses to tune his sound with treble 10, bass 0, mid, 0 throughout a performance.

doesn't mean u use BBE, confirm u got ear fatigue..dats crap..
our taste of tone is different..

Uh... I don't quite.. get you?

Let me qualify. I could be wrong. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm just asking.

If a guitarist plays with as you put it, treble max. Ear fatigue sets in faster, right?

I'm saying in the same case of a band, where it is mic-ed up, and the soundman, mixes in a way that has the cymbals really loud. Lots of high freqs coming thru. Would ear fatigue set in faster for those listening to said band?

In the same case, I was concerned if the BBE Sonic Maximiser would do such a thing. To which, Chanmin has said it doesn't, so I wanna try it out...

Or maybe I should just go search an audio forum...

Pardon me if I'm wrong but I was thinking that the BBE Sonic Maximizer seems to have a similar function as the RC Booster? Briefly speaking, both are adept pedals that add richness to your tone.

If that's the case, which pedal do you guys feel is better?

same same but different.

wow this thread is pretty old right? up till now the BBE is still on my board. thats almost 2yrs ... superb value la!!!

Well ive owned the RC as well ... i used it for boosting mainly. Yes the RC does give you that extra punch and treble enhancement ala BBE. But its purpose is a ... OD? the clarity and punch added is not adjustable. For the BBE its sole purpose is for this... i would sale the BBe is very useful for muddy sounding rigs... it really brings your tone to life.
Using the BBE with overly bright amps is also very nice... i lower the high process and add more bass. its just a very simple tool for getting that well rounded sound quickly even thru unfamiliar rigs.

+1! I've taken it off my rig only because I don't need to switch between different amps, and the pedal combi(s) I use don't muddy my tone up much.

Sorry to dig an ol thread ....but this is to the fella who sent his BBE Sonic Maximizer for repair and i can't seem to find your contact ...it has been a long time!

Thanks...
