attempt to chronologically list influential/prominent local bands, past to present

I can find quite a solid list of bands in the 60s, but I can't really think of any in the 70s and 80s. Heritage was in the 70s yes? Can some of the older softies help me out in categorizing when these bands were formed, and give me more examples too?

do suggest who i should add, and where, and let's see how comprehensive this can get! My priority is to chronicle influential and prominent bands that made a SIGNIFICANT IMPACT in the scene. I understand this is subjective, so let's have some healthy discussion. If you feel a band should be added, do add a reason as well!

I've re-arranged the order according to what I can remember. Certain bands started in the 90's like Zero Sequence but I thought that the prominence/ general awareness was within the past 3 years?

You should set up a Wiki page for this. I've combined Cavett's list as well?

This site might be usefull for your 60's and 70's section ....

are you sure? their myspace says:

After seeing the band’s substation show, Wakemeupmusic label founder John Chiong was electrified. And in 2001 – Fishtank spoke their very first words. 2001’s Souvenir Novelties & Party Tricks hurtled towards jaded, unsuspecting music fans at warp speed.

perhaps that refers to their first album. my bad.

AgingYouth:

Thanks Willy bro! Yes I am planning a solid cleanup of the Wiki pages, and also something a little more special coming soon ;)

just wondering will this thread become something where we can come in, just drop in the all the names that we can possibly think of/support, even thought there might not be much influence other than "yeah, we have this band, by this name, during this era"

do you want it to be like that? some bands form and disband in weeks, and they would number in the thousands. but we could do that, if we wanted to!

Eh i don't think Pension State were around in the 80's dude. The vocalist is my age so he would only just hit his tenth birthday at the end of that decade....
From what i recall they played their first show in 1997.

Fishtank were formed in the late 90's. I first saw them in 1999 and they played the SubC2000 millennium party that year as well. They were pretty huge by then.

I don't think Vertical Rush was formed in the 90's either. They were playing their first few shows around 2001 from what i remember... Unless you count the school band that eventually became VR......

Shereen's Closet should be in there somewhere as well... 1990's
My Precious also deserve a mention. I think they were formed in the 2000 era...
