Asking for the most recommended effect for guitar solos in songs.

Actually 2 DS-1 works as well, some fellow SOFTies tried it and the tone coming out isn't that bad. (Try Open Mic)

On the other hand, there isn't a cold hard rule saying you can't have 2 same pedals in your pedalboard. It is just how you're gonna meddle with it.

2 DS-1?

1st DS-1 be your main distortion unit, set it with the right 'flavour' you want.

2nd DS-1, (you wanted very big difference in volume?), TONE & DIST = 0, VOLUME = MAX.

Works this way as well.

Get a Seymour Duncan pick up booster up to 25 db
Place it to the last before amplifier for example Ef1 Ef2 or Ef3 SD -- amp

Set the booster according to your comfortable volume level for guitar solo
Just adjust the knob minimum or maximum it recommended by experience
Player press the button when u solo off after solo.

as cool as it is, Duncan's pickup booster (i own one) was conceived more for singlcoils than humbucking guitars. unless your guitar sports the former set of pickups, this pedal's effectiveness is rather marginal.

Soloing I feel either get a volume pedal (for people without quick hands to shift up the volume on guitar),...

newbies would believe, after reading the above, that we are not suppossed to turn our guitar volumes to the max during play...?

i have to agree with sub on that.
i was playing to get the seymour pickup booster and a delay pedal to boost my solo...

maybe ill add in a pinch of salt and pepper too.

here was what i did during a performance. i do my riffing on my neck pickup, solo on bridge. so my neck pickup was around 7/10 and bridge put to full. but hey i use a les paul, dont find it that hard to change pickups. huhu

Actually one of the most used boosters are the tubescreamers or the tubescreamer voiced overdrives.

ts7, or ts9 will work really well as a booster/fatten solos.
Am currently using the visual sound version which has a bass boost and does really well during those solos

Lol... actually I don't... always give some leeway, having around 40% on my guitar and 50% on my amp does enough wonders. Then sliding vol up and down for some fun while sustaining a chord.

I don't truly recommend this cause you'll be adding more gain, not only volume into the fray.. Well, the tubescreamer mid-range hump may not be for everyone, or every set-up for that matter..

Everything I have sounds fat, and adding a TS into my set-up would totally overkill the mids..
