Are PRS guitars any good?

Let me give you an example. I have an Ibanez RG, JEM, Gibson LP and now PRS (all bcos of this forum, kidding :)

Ibanez RG is my most favorite and cheapest among them. I play it almost everyday and I like it the most.

Ibanez cheap? My 10 years old JEM current market value is more than brandnew PRS custom 22 :)

I play my no.1 everyday , a Gibson les paul . It's not modded or anything and it's relatively cheap but it sounds like a piece of heaven . Was thinking of getting a treble bleed done to it though.

What's a treble bleed ? :???:

treble bleed mod. which is, if im not wrong, to cut out the loss of treble when you roll down the volume knob.

its like buying a farrari and taking out its engine and putting in a proton engine.

Again the PRS/Ferrari comparison... You guys need to get out more...;)

Do you know how many Ferrari owners have modded their cars? The key basic mod is always the Tubi Exhaust. Other than that, there's lots of other mods available, and most likely, done.

Are they?

On McCarty or Custom 24? Can you elaborate more?
I heard that limited editon CU24 quilt top, korina back with 57/08 are coming.

It was a custom 24 I tried... Lots of snap, very responsive, and responded to high gain yet didn't lose much dynamics due to compression... I liked them...

This is not fair. This is so NOT F***ing fair.

PRS will give any PRS pickup including 57/08 for new PRS or even upgrade your current PRS guitar for absolutely free. But thats only in US.

Do you hear anything about this in Singapore?

REally? Where'd you hear that? I thought the 57/08s were limited production and only meant for the 2008 limited Cu24s and the McCartys? Who care's about FOC? Damn, if they sold those pickups, I'd have already bought a set!

You should really read the whole article before posting something like that. You have to buy a new PRS from now till August 31st to qualify for it. And you have to ship your guitar to the new tech center in Stevensville to get the pickups installed. They aren't just handing them out like you made it seem.

PRS pickups are nothing much to shout about either...will swap them out for something else if i actually do get one.

yeah I know, I am still entitled for this and I don't mind sending my guitar to US to get 57/08 :)

I don't know how good they are but giving the spec or current market price of 50's paf (1k USD per piece btw) it is worth trying.

Begs the question, why would you buy one if you know there's something about it that you don't like?

I wouldnt mind getting a cu24 like the one my friend has. Really great guitar but the only thing that tonally lacks in its department are the pups imo.

Dude... DO IT. They're nothing like PAFs... They sounded a lot more modern to me, and while it maintained a nice even tone throughout, with no excessive mids or bass or trebles, it sounded like it had a lot of compression, it still retained a lot of picking dynamics.

You don't like them in the end? SELL TO ME. Heheh...

50s PAFs are inconsistent. You might or might not get a good set. That's the appeal of the pups. The assy winds and the inconsistent wire lengths gives it an unusual character, like what Forrest Gump calls life: Like a box of chocolates.
