Apple launches the new iPad

It's so bad. Now, where do I start off?

1) iPad? Really? Couldn't they think of a better name? First thing that came to my mind when I heard the name was a sanitary pad. iSlate would have been way cooler.

2)Tablet with no note taking feature? When I think of a tablet PC, I want to be able to write on it with a stylus.

3) 16GB flash memory? That will fit like 2 E-books and 5 .mp3 songs. Jeez.

4) Technologically revolutonary design with great looks? Definitely. Something I'd buy? Nope.

I don't hate apple, I just expected way better from them considering the last few products they put out.

The iPad's misleading name caused quite a trend on Twitter with people making fun of it's name and even coming up with something called the iTampon :S

haha you know to me its looks like the bigger version of an ipod touch, but smaller than a macbook pro.

Trust me, for a start, it will sell well.
It is something that was highly anticipated by Apple fans.

With its SDK, app builders will soon populate the App Store for this iPad.
That's when its usability will shoot up.

Apple's display is unbeatable.
The multi-touch and gestures are already proven by the iPhone/iPod touch.

OS wise, no, it's no OSX. It's simply a oversized iPod touch...
Nevertheless, its 1GHz Apple A4 custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip is good enough.

16GB at 499USD? I'll buy this for sure.
Depends on how you see storage, iPad need not be your storage library.
With Internet (it uses 802.11n wireless), the Internet resources is my storage.

10hrs battery life? Perhaps some will have doubts on this.

Still, it is a great product.

Very cool.

have you guys seen the price? it's ridiculous. i'd rather buy an iPhone.

iPhone = phone, camera, media player, Internet, etc
iPad = Internet, and what, books?

It is basically a Apple netbook with touch features la. The price seems pretty okay compared to hp mini and asus eee pc. But still, no snow leopard.. :/

heh, there will be lotsa people who are particular excited by new things or products, its totally normal.

As long as theres people who are excited, there could be equal amount of people who are not interested. In between those who are interested and uninterested, theres will be another 2 group who are prolly neutral and could stray to either side of interested/uninterested due to the enviroment, peer pressure, logically thinking of how it will aid their life for the thigns they might be doing.

heh, theres nothing in the world today, that belong to individual. We are prolly a tiny part of a bigger picture.

btw, ipad, lets see one year down the road, how will it fare. On first look, it does seem a bit underwhelming imho.

I'm not too sure about this ipad...
it looks like a Giant IPOD Touch
Not running under OSX.. Not really a lappie... Not exactly an iphone...
Since there will be 3G enabled models available, i bet there will be more telco wars when this launches here in SG.

Big question here is....
Can this thing be JAILBROKEN in the future?
I'm up for it if it can.

I need a bigger pocket man!!!
How to fit this sucker into my back pocket!
hehehe
;)

the thing would be exciting for coders to use it/adapt it as midi/osc controller like jazzmutant lemur or even a e-version of monome or any touch sensitive instrument etc.

For making it into electronic toys to make music, the ipad could make things easier and best of all, portable enough to bring around.

It is never meant to be a netbook. Its feature is basically similar to an iPod Touch with the iBook app.

Don't mistake it for a miniPC. It is not. It just supports a better photo and video viewing with the Safari for net surfing + the iBook app which is a blast of an improvement from the old eBook gadget.

video viewing via safari will probably need flash. would this mean the ipad will be flash enabled?

A lot of question marks surrounding this ipad but it sure looks like its not going to be an open source android type. money will be flying into the app store left right and centre.

Just have to wait and see untill the ipad comes to our shores and wait for those reviews.

Looks like a stupidly large iPhone. It doesn't fit into your pocket, isn't any more portable than a standard laptop, and runs virtually the same OS as an iPhone. eBooks? Kindle. DO NOT WANT.

Well bigger doesnt always mean better. They should know that being a corporate giant in the technology industry.
