anyone kind enough to lend midi controller/pads for me to try out?

im considering getting a midi controller or something like the trigger finger but would very much like to test the feeling of the hardware out first before i dump my money on them.

and anyone who has used midi drum pads, how do they compare to standalone units like MPCs?

I have the Korg padkontrol. Both midi drum pads and mpc works pretty much the same way, which is to trigger sound or samples, but the mpc could be use as a standalone workstation while the drumpad can only be use with a sound module or a computer. Get the midi drum pads if you intend to play the drums in software like redrums in reason etc. or else you should just get a midi keyboard, they can be use to play drums too, but I find them not as good as playing with the drum pads. Thats my advice, but either way its up to you, to decide.
