Any recommendation for strats around 1k?

ehm sorry to ask, but does satin finish means non glossy?

satin finish refers to the absence of a thick, final, lacquer overcoat that makes the guitar typically shiny. however, there are many types of 'satin' finishes employed by various manufacturers, majority of them employ a very thin, protective overcoat as a blanket for the stain's logevity. others choose to pre-mix the lacquer with the stain instead of a seperate, final application.

are the jimmie vaughan strats good?

yes.

1) Maple fretboard
2) medium jumbo frets
3) i love the v-profile neck (not everyone's preference - you have been warned)
4) Tex-Mex pickups (can you spell H O T)
5) no-load tone control for middle pickup (for those about to rock...)
6) tone control for bridge (normal strats don't have tone control for bridge PU)

i only wish i had gotten mine in another color.... but i got it second hand, so...

but hey it looks like an EC signature strat hehe....

hey sub, how are the tex-mex pups in the 60th anniversary

there's definitely more character from the Tex Mex than regular Std model pickups. i hear more twang & there's a more pronounced reaction to overdrive.

Its going for $761.90. its on the front page of the sweelee website!

that's kinda misleading, because it's selling for $800 nett upon subsequent enquieries...

i had a similar misconception from their web prices... later i found out that the prices on the website do not include GST

do the math and u'll realise that 761.90 x 1.05 = 799.995

yeah, gritty overdrive is easily attained with those Tex Mex PUs
