btw, what are the tonal difference between ST-Vintage(U.S.A.) and Texas Special(U.S.A.)?

one of the MIJ strat that caught my attention is ST62G-80TX. any comment on that?

ahh... texas specials... goot! hot, thicker sound, great for crunch... not as thin-sounding as vintage pickups, but then again Texas Speecials will sound a bit less bell-like for the same reason... depends what style of music u prefer to play

the ST62G-80TX is the SRV copy.... i was eyeing that at one time as well... i luurve gold hardware :D

do note that there are two very similar MIJ 'SRV' models - one has vintage pickups, medium-jumbo frets and the reversed tremolo, the other has the Texas Specials, normal frets and regular trem

how do you spot the difference between the 2? and what do you mean by reverse tremolo?

i play mainly rock.so the texas should fits me well yeah.btw do gold hardware wears off easily?

get a fender MIJ st72. i think it rocks! very nice looking, alder body, 70s headstock, and US parts right?

i would want one if i got the money! hahaha

+1. Canoe paddle headstocks rock. Get a white, black or natural and be Blackmore.

which strat to get

frankly i have tried alot of strats and basically strats have the same generic sound if the body and neck woods are similar. i have a fernandes strat (the 1 with the lawsuit headstock) which i got for 250 bucks only. the previous owner had repainted the guitar with a thick coat of paint... the sound was somewhat off until i used a sand blaster and stripped the paint, now the sound (with seymour duncan pickup in the neck n dimarzio in the bridge, both stacked hum btw) sound just as good as any other strats. i refretted it with jumbo frets n changed the tuners etc, i guess this is what u have to do when u get a 2nd hand strat copy. i think u should try as many strats as u can, i guarantee u 1 of them will keep niggling you in the back of ur mind. then that is the one with mojo for u.

Gold hardware will eventually wear off with normal playing use.

I think you should try out the 60 anniversary strat and the ST72 mentioned, get a feel, then decide further.

that one is the entry level jap strat i believe..they are discussing other slightly better models in terms of wood and electronics..for his consideration..

from wat i've read b4, basswood is used in MIJ strats cos it's similar to alder in tone but more readily available in Asia.. so no need to spend on shipping alder to Japan.. perhaps there's some diehard alder fans who don mind paying more so alder is used in higher end MIJ model..

the highway1 seems to have a good review. but does it have rosewood fretboard and other type of finishes? if swee lee have a 50% sales this holiday, maybe i will consider it

yes- rosewood/ other body finishes available
