i am a begginer guitarist plainng to buy my first mulit-fx pedal. i have been eyeing the yahmaha magic stomp for quite long. but i dont see much users in sg using it, most ppl at seen using boss gt2's or zoom pedals. so is the magic stomp a good effect? pls recommand

Boss GT2? thot it was Boss GT6 and Sansamp GT2...
Sansamps GT2 is a preamp/amp modeller of sorts. not really a multifx.
check out their full range at http://www.tech21nyc.com
anyways, if you are on a tight budget, then i'd recommend Zoom GFX5 or 8 or if even tighter budget, Behringer X-V-Amp.
If not, you can't go wrong with either Boss GT6 ($715) or 8 (think not out yet), POD XT Live($668), Vox Tonelabs SE ($729), T.C Electronics G-Force ($900 plus). but TC's rack unit does not have distortion la.
dunno about yamaha's stuff, never tried it but reviews did not put them in good light.
for a huge array of reviews on almost every imainable guitar product, try http://www.harmony-central.com
also, depends on your needs. do you need usb/optical/midi ins and outs etc? best for you to check each unit's individual specs if you have a particular need for a function like for recording or something. hope this helps.

oh btw, welcome to the guitar world! :)

Zoom at Davis .... PLEASE check it out ..... It is a phenomenal first time pedal buyer pedall .... got so many functions and the sound is nice ..... LCD ... Include tuner even ....

Yamaha magicstomp

I have owned POD's ,Johnson J stations, Boss GT;s, Zoom GFX4,5 & 8 etc etc. all in a search for the "perfect multi effects pedal. I bought a Yamaha magic stomp about 4 months ago and it is GREAT. The software is easy to use to either tweak stored sounds or createyour own. saving is easy, and you can assign the 3 nobs to control any parameter you want for any effect . So for instance with chorus you can assign them fir speed , depth and volume if you want. The overdrives etc are excellent and full sounding, the TS9 soundalike is great as are the chorused, phase and flangers. You can combine effects and deep edit all parts if you want. I use an external volme pedal for live gigs to fine control patch volumes. It is easy, reliable and beats the others I have owned. I use it witha Gibson Les paul and a Tele deluxe through a fender Hot rod deville Tube amp. I would recommend you try one.

i got a cheap set up, i play a ibanez gio series thru a roland cube 15 watts amp. is the effects and amp modaling of magic stomp and most multifx pedals gonna improve my sound qulity a whole lot, or should i save more cash to get a better amp?(maybe a tube 1)

if u want to know what the different multifx sounds like, you can always head down to http://www.musiciansfriend.com or the indivual manufactirer's websites and have a listen, before you make a decision.
tube amp = new story. i dunno if u wanna delve into those now.
i just have this thinking that multi-fx pedals are only good direct recording tools. if you want sound quality, some might argue pedlas will be much better. dunno la...its a perennial debate. cheers

what's the diff between all the pod models? so many pod ver 2.0, podxt, podxt live, podxt pro, pod pro......anyone knows?

hi i play mostly rock to metal and currently lookin for a decent multi efx. i wanted to get a GT6 but it's unfortunately out of my budget.
right now i'm looking at the zoom gfx-5 or 8 and the Korg Toneworks Ax1500G, well haven't had much experience with multi efx so anyone has any advices or suggestions?
anyways i heard the korg can get loads of signature sounds, is that true?
so which one is better? the zoom GFX-5/8 or the Korg Toneworks Ax1500G? and which of the 2 different modelling systems from the 2 companies are better?" (if i'm not wrong, the zoom has VAMS while the korg has REMS).
anyone has any other decent multi efx around $300-400+ range to suggest?
