The Boss BD2 is a great pedal, but gotta know how to use it 1st...
Taken from the BD-2 manual:
"The BD-2 is the overdrive that has been specifically designed for crunch distortion.
It can faithfully express the tone change caused by moving the knobs on the guitar.
It can create distortion that can faithfully reproduce the picking nuance of the player.
It can create wide varieties of distortions from crunch to hard distortion, by adjusting the
Gain Knob.Even if the Gain Knob is raised, a clean and natural sound can be produced by turning the volume of the guitar.
A natural-sounding overdrive continues to be produced"
Digitech BadMonkey ...
sounds quite nice on a SS amp ... but tends to mud out when plugged into a tube amp.
IMO: Digitech pedals were designed for SS amps.
1 thing i realy like about Digitech pedals is its bypass ... when the pedal is off.
having a digitech pedal (switched off) at the start of your chain does improve ur tone.
BOSS OD3 ...
Great pedal ...~! Fat and Thick overdrive...~!
i find i get a more bluesy sound out of this than the BD2.
back to topic,
given the BD2's distortion character and shrillness, it would stack quite well with a rat or turbo rat especially since the rat tends to sound abit muddy when the gain knob is turned up.
Perhaps you could tell us ur current setup, pedal and amp settings and the sound you are trying to attain for us to better recommend you a dist. pedal ?
