The Whole Story...
Category: Music

I really feel it necessary to put up this blog in the wake of all that has happened regarding the "vulgar'/unfriendly messages that have been sent out using Aphonia's MySpace account over the past week.

Firstly, I have to admit that it was my doing. I was going through a very rough period during that time and I just flamed the people who requested to be added to the band's page. Even though the matter has already blown over and many people already believe that it was someone who hacked into our account, I feel it against my own conscience to let things be.

Nobody hacked into our account. I lied. I just never knew that it would have blown so big as to go up on SOFT's forum, with the great and wonderful help of 'zax'. Thank you very much for ruining the reputation of the band. And also to 'gothviruz' who participated.

Secondly, having consulted the 'advice' of many people around me, I thought that it would be a very good 'publicity stunt' to get people talking about the band by flaming. As people always quote, negative publicity is also publicity.

I wanted the band to grow really big and have people knowing us. Everybody wants to be a rockstar, and we're no different. So I hope that this will quench everybody's curiosity about what's going on regarding all the unfriendly messages that everyone has been receiving.

Aphonia will be coming up with something really new and radical in time to come and I hope everyone will continue to support us in our quest to stardom.

And to all the fucked-up assholes who mis-spelled the band's name, it's APHONIA not ALPHONIA damn it. So get it right the next time round! Pfft!

Aphonia

good job making a fool of yourself AND admitting it on goddamn myspace, alphonia~

damn, i got a a message to check the blog out.
if its for real, its really kinda dumb.

publicity? its like a janet jackson's tittie popping suprise at superbowl.
big mistake.

I like the part where he blames the people for putting this up here and participating 'to ruin' the band's reputation. haha I don't think he thought this all the way through.

quite sad. in the end he still blamed zax for ruining the band's reputation.

???

Cant be that the page got hacked so many times in such a short period right?? Maybe he's got split personality... hahahaha... jk jk!!

quite sad. in the end he still blamed zax for ruining the band's reputation.

And me included..

hmm.. so what is it now? First said hacked, even apologised. Then now admitted it's not hacked but his own doings.. plus blaming ppl like me and Zax for bringing down the band's reputation? I'm still trying to locate the word 'sorry' in the blog..hmm.. did i miss it?

Or even their blog got hacked now? Then what, the whole band also got hacked and it's not gonna be the real Aphonia playing in future.. hahahaha

On one note, hacked or not.

Offending fellow musicians in the industry is something, individual or as a band should not do. Well, everyone should know the outcome.

IMO, the road to stardom don't necessary need to use negative publicity.
Having such ideas like "negative publicity is also publicity", i felt is pretty kiddish.
It's not realistic at all. Furthermore, what kind of publicity will these kind of personal attack upon each other would generate? Think about it.

This ain't a personal/band attack here but i think it should be a reminder to all musicians including myself.

Peace Yo. V

methinks that its the job of a hacker la, if he can do it once, cant he do it again folks??When will this insanity stop?!

P.S.

I'll bet my nick will appear in his blog next as co-conspirator and that I'll have a thing for girly men.Sheesh

(The blog post is gone from Aphonia's myspace.)

In my opinion, only really BIG and ESTABLISHED bands/acts/celebrities can afford to have negative publicity because they have a reputation to begin with (not that I think it's OK to go hunting for it). Unless you do something to the extent of an Edison Chen.

However, I can draw some parallels to that issue here: It was opening a can of worms to be so defiant and lie about it -- and adding oil to fire to admit that you actually lied about it.

Being able to admit to your mistakes is one thing, but this should have been done when this was first circulated. It is not too late to apologise, but there will definitely be damage done to your reputation. Such is a PR disaster.

We all live and we learn, eh.

So will us audience live and let live? What do you guys say?
