Advise needed: Which should I buy?

I'm kindof new to the world of electric guitar (been playing acoustic), amps, effects and stuff... hope some of you experienced guys here can help me out...I dont play metal stuff, usually jazz/cafe kindof songs which dont use much overdrive - clean sound is more of my preference...

I'm considering buying a amp (either Behringer GM-110 or Vox Pathfinder - someone told me they're reallygood - true?) and I'm also contemplating to buy a Line6 POD. Can anyone tell me if either amp can be used?

Also, as I do not perform in gigs (i'm a small time hobby guitarist who plays at home), do u think I'm spending too much on a POD XT Live? Or do u think i should just go for Guitarport or POD XT?

your kind advise is greatly appreciated....thanks!

Jazz cafe clean stuff. definetely just get the Pathfinder. Guitar can go straight into it. Don't bother with all the effects on board the POD XT Live.

The only reason why you would probably want a POD would be for recording, which is, in it's on right, very cool.

Both the Behringer & the Vox are fine amps. You might be a bit more inclined towards the vox since you're looking for cleans.

The easiest way to find out is just to go down with your electric guitar to try out the amp. That's what I've learnt after reading so much on forums - what is someone's meat is another man's poison. I hate the cube 30 since it bears an uncanny resemblance to the Jazz Chorus. I hate the Vox Adt30/50 as the sounds feel sterile to me. But hey, lots of forummers here feel they are very good. it just proves that point.

trust your ears when you test the amp. just spend a lot of time tweaking the amp to your liking, and listen for the sound yourself.

don't get a POD XT live since you're just starting out. it is expensive, so if you don't like it, that's going to be troublesome.

gee...thanks for the advise!

i guess i shall stick to the vox then....is there anything else i need to use with it? I thought a multi effects might be useful with the amp, and I tot of POD cos i also wanna record some tunes....dunno if i doing the right thing to get the POD though....

btw, any idea whats the differenece (is it also an EFX?) between the toneport, guitar port, POD XT 2.0 and POD Live? All the POD are confusing me man...

Since you are playing jazz, go for a good clean amp with plenty of headroom. You might want to up your budgett. Since you can afford a POD XT, might as well get a decent amp.

JC's are nice but I think they are a bit too loud, heavy and over budget for his purposes. Also agree with the Pathfinder 15W. Suits what you're loooking for in an amp. The best amp I've had the pleasure of playing in the low budget price range.

Pathfinders are nice. Just a little lack of clean headroom though. If you can hack in or plug it into a bigger speaker it'll shine even more.
