Taken from WIKI >>>>"Acrylic fibers are synthetic fibers made from a polymer with a weight average molecular weight of ~100,000. To be called acrylic in the U.S., the polymer must contain at least 85% acrylonitrilemonomer. Typical comonomers are vinyl acetate or methyl acrylate. The polymer is formed by free radical polymerization. The fiber is produced by dissolving the polymer in a solvent such as N,N-dimethylformamide or aqueous sodium thiocyanate, metering it through a multi-hole spinnerette and coagulating the resultant filaments in an aqueous solution of the same solvent. Washing, stretching, drying and crimping complete the processing. Acrylic fibers are produced in a range of deniers, typically from 1 to 15. End uses include sweaters, hand-knitting yarns, rugs, awnings, boat covers, and as a precursor for carbon fiber. Production of acrylic fibers is centered in the Far East, declining in Europe and now shut down (except for precursor) in the U.S.

Acrylic is lightweight, soft, and warm, with a wool-like feel. It dyes very well and has excellent colorfastness. It is resilient, retains its shape, and resists shrinkage and wrinkles. It is quite varied in form and sometimes has an appearance similar to wool or cotton.

Acrylic has recently been used in clothing as a cheaper alternative to cashmere, due to the similar feeling of the materials. The disadvantages of acrylic is that it tends to fuzz (or pill) easily and that it does not insulate the wearer as well as cashmere. Many products like fake pashmina or cashmina use this material to create the illusion and deception of cashmere to the consumer.

Acrylic is resistant to moths, oils, and chemicals, and is very resistant to deterioration from sunlight exposure. However, static and pilling can be a problem."

Hope this helps

As I've mentioned before, Acrylic guitars are the best guitars to use to smash the losers head after a neoclassical battle.

Its transparent so you can see the skind breaking up, skull crushed and bits of brains flying out.

Just imagine the scene on IRREVERSIBLE where that guy got his head smashed by a fire extinguisher.

NOW that IS the purpose of acrylic guitars. Post Neoclassical battle skull bashers.

why do losers have to have their heads smashed in neo classical battles?
isnt it more appropriate in death metal? literally bring death to the metal

Also, check up the discontinued line of Ibanez EDR guitars. Its a luthite body, the same as the original Chromeboys.

If you want to get one (around $600 @ Swee Lee) do get those that have hte Edge Pro II, i think its 2003 onwards.

wow.. ok.. interesting... ah well.. so nobody really knows how they sound huh.. ah well.. definitely gotta get one and test out...

but yeah, if i get one, its mainly for looks and not much else...

yes... from what i know, acrylic is kinda dead.. so it needs emg's which would cover up the lack of wood tonal character and make them all sound powerful and sterile...

Eh... There was this Ibanez JS... i cannot rem which one... JS 10th Anniversary model?

Its acrylic with PAF Pros in it. You should go to jemsite and do a search. Or search for reviews on it.

oh i tried the green 1 at yamaha... damn heavy. sound wise it is good for only heavy metal... very big n boomy. but soloing wise it has no character at all! i dunno if its the pickups (there is only a bridge pickup), but i didnt like it.
