a question

hmmm...
i guess there's a few things that we all learn here..

for the performer (the band),pls chk carefully before committing to any gigs...
if u think u dun agree with the terms n conditions, itz either u negotiate further with the organizers or dun play at all...
as long as nobody breaks the agreement, than all is fair...
if no black n white, then nobody cn dispute on anything...
so if there's damages, performers cnt be blamed n claimed for them...
remember u r there to perform...
whether the event is gona be sold out is not fully on u...
the organizer hv to do the main promo of the event..
itz their event anyway...
but u as the performer cn of course make it more happening by telling ur friends n supporters to support it...
more crowd = happening event = band happy performing = more tix sales = organizer cn smile = more ppl buy drinks = venue owner cn smile too
itz justifiable for new bands to perform w/o getting paid...
but if u must pay to perform, that's totally not right...
itz not ur event so why must u pay for it?
unless itz in the agreement that u hv to pay like a registration fee so that u cn perform there,n the band agreed to it,than itz a diff story lah...
for the organizers,
everything must be agreed upon in writing...
making money is one thing...
but the strategy must be correct...
before organising a gig, there must be a budget to see if u cn break even or a profit...
n i'm sure u cn work sumthin out with the venue so that u won't come out with so much cost in the 1st plc...
if u think abt getting the profit from tix sales, then i guess the strategy hv to change...
proper promotion must be done...
nw in the computer age,u cn actually save cost by doin ur own poster flyers n all the ads thru the net to gt ur message thru...
n dun forget the word of mouth...

in other words, before the event even take off...
make sure there's an agreement to everything concerning the gig...
especially when it comes to damages...
whether it is to the equipment used for the gig...
things in the venue...
no sales or no crowd...
watever factors,gd or bad that may arise to the event...
put them in writing, explain to the potential bands wat to expect...
n once everyone agreed, acknowledged n sign on paper...
than if anything happen, both party cn fall back on these papers to clarify n solve matters...

everybody wanna hv fun playing music...
so keep the fun going...

cheers!!!

read again

CMON bio, stop repeating that business is about makin money.Anyone noes that.N im not complaining about how business makes money or anything like tt.Read again.N honesty in business?hmm...
Im not talking about business or in the making of any business here.
Its about passion to play music, guys.Money may not be such an important issue here.Maybe yea it does matter to some when he or she has to pay a large sum for a damage cymbal.Ouch, now that we cant avoid..
But thats not the factor.
What im trying to point out here is that anyone or any musician shudnt criticise any musician's playing even if u think u're a professional musician.Cos playing music, theres no end to learning.U have to start from being a learner to be a professional.

Cheers

hi imamosh,

The previous post is just a suggestion. Cause I think that such clubs are making money in an unfair way. So I give suggestions. i think it does not work :)

I don't think I talk much bout making money. I don't support people making money in an unfair way. Its the passion thats keeps things going.

Remember, I don't side with making money. Its about the passion.
