a good eq to get

im on a low budget or a money's worth basis.

i have no need for the 20 band 1s and stuff like tt.
what i'm looking most for is transparency. i've
tried danelectro and boss. i dun like em much.
though i think the boss ge-7 sniper mod was pretty cool.

i've heard the ge7 was a tad bit noisy, not sure bout the modded one. the dano is a decent cheaper alternative. theres also the MXR 6 or 10 band ones, or the artec eq's havent tried them yet though.

Hmm.

Ultimately it would be great if you could provide us with information on what you would be using the EQ for, be it tonal sculpting, frequency-cum-volume boost for solos or anything else.

How would you expect us to give you any recommendations if you don't state what end results you would like to see?

affordable & good EQ units to consider:

mainly i was thinking of using the eq to 'correct' the amp's tone.
coz my guitar tends to be very temperamental with different amps.

ideally it goes well with AC30s. fender amps are gd with it. marshall's
decent.
i could live with smarvo. randalls are pretty ok too.

line 6, crate all suck ass. ibanez's too.
ends up very harsh sounding. and for some reason it's difficult to
dial in the tone i'd want on those amps. and since, 4 some reason,
i'm finding a lot of jamming studios with line6's now, that kinda sucks
for my tone...

i dunno, but i found the fish and chips pretty tone sucking.
transparency is a pretty highly rated quality in pedals i look
for.

nv tried the artec or the behringer. but i don't really have a very
good impression of em. *shrugs* maybe it's just me.

BEEZ ROCKS

by the way get Fish and Chips. ( like starter bras for girls )'
Then when uknow what u want u can give that to me and get a GE-7 MXR Behringer whatever ( victoria secret, triumph, blush, jim dunlop,la senza )

hahaha.
i din like the fish n chips lah.

seems like it kinda muddies up my sound.
like when it's off...
not transparent.
gah. mayb ill make a trip down to roxy sq
to give beez a visit soon then...

thanks guys.

if you wish to rectify the amp's tone, it makes more sense to connect the EQ parallel. if you are connecting it in series, you are actually accomodating the guitar for the amp.

yes- parallel connection is done through the FX loop feature. search the 'How-to' thread, i have explainations there + pics.

Actually its still in series just before or after the preamp section !
Basically an effects send return is a broken link between pre and power amp and some (eg.SLO100) have pre and post buffer !

Yes! there is differance
