6, 7, 8 Strings in the Making

hey yea prototype there are some 8 strings in Singapore. RG2228 came in 3 years ago, and even saw it on sale at 1200 during year end but I think no one bought it, at least while i was there.

Oh yes my shipment of fretboards came in today with the tools and inlays.

My desk is getting a little crowded...

From left to right:
2 pieces of Macassar Ebony for my current builds.

Honduran Rosewood, Indian Rosewood and Madagascar Rosewood, these are unradiused for the headless-es I'm building for Randolf Arriola.

And the long piece is a baritone scale 7 String Fretboard, this one is Madagascar Rosewood too.

Today I cut the fretboard to size:

Routed the trussrod slot

Put the truss rod in the slot with a little bit of E-6000.

Masked it to keep the glue from getting into the slot.

Test fit

Glue up

haha thank you it's not that huge an amount of work, just need to plan and go slowly.

The fretboard glued perfectly.

I cut it down.

Carved it a little.

Glued the wings on.

Glue up was perfect.

Flattened the back.

Carved the wood out under the fingerboard.

Carved the heel.

Dyed the headstock black.

It's coming to life!

Left to right, rosewood x2, walnut, sapele then rosewood.

New wood today.

So today I finalised the design of the headstock.

Cut it out...

Put the pilot holes in for the tuners before removing the template.
