'hey kids'? -raises one eyebrow- oh well. pepper most of us here agreed with you, see the other pages of this thread. good to know you share the same sentiments. the world isn't that small after all.

xenophobic? sure. call me anything. I'm fine with labels. :D

My last say on this is too much emphasis have been placed by asians and what nots towards West, West and uhm.... Japan heh heh. Or "aliens" trying to tell us how to think and how to do things. Even in forums.

They tend to forget or even choose not to recognise their own ethicity, culture and history. I'm no advocator and historian for everything local but I'd hope that locals be more proud of where they come from and stop mimicing whoever whatever.

Remember all you like and post all you like. But do remember... its a forum and don't expect everyone to share the same sentiments and not everyone are mr nice guys. I've just been labelled dickhead. Nice one that. :D We can be as opiniated like uhm... our western counterparts. :D :D :D

agree with you, edder. except for one thing. Honouring is different from mimicking. I fail to see which part of this thread mimicked Western counterparts--unless, of course, honouring and commemorating days in history is a purely Western tradition. Simply because you honour a day in history does not mean that you cannot be proud of your local history. It's a forum here, true. In my experience, forums help people to open up their minds to new ideas. Just too bad not everyone wants an open mind.

Japanese aren't Asians???

My earlier post documented the effects felt in S'pore and the SEA region during that era. The Sepoy mutiny. Also, the British Empire was so badly weakened by the war, that they had to rely on Japs.

No one is telling you how to think and how to do things, dude. I don't get that vibe from the person who started the thread, or the people supporting it.
