.

for fighting for their countries in the bloody war. We had 1 minute silence, a picture presentation and the trumpet song that the ANZACS played. not sure if the pom used it aswell.

Was sad. I had forefathers who fought for Australia. I'm glad they arent around to see what it has become now.

Lest We Forget.

How insensitive. They are not foreign to me, and besides, do you wish to seperate everyone, and have no mix with anyone else?

we rmmbr the foreign coz those foreign at those times made this world look like what it is today. if it wasnt for Waterloo we would have to speak french now n mayb volunteer to slavery still  And rmmbring the now foreign like Bush or Saddam or Osama or Blair, those who have died or hav not died, itz no use coz they r just jokes of the modern world n r not contributing to anything other than Ragnarock.

sensitivity is relativity. Most here don't even talk about remembering every feb 15th during the jap occupation, how are we going to get related to nov 11th. It's so true that it hurts

oh sorry if napolean and world war 1 is relevant to you all. my apologies.

Let me rephrase then....

For this is a local forum and in a local context lets remember then...

The good people who had fought World War 2 during the japanese occupation...

The heroes that emerge to maintain peace during May 13th...

The Sansui woman who toiled like the poor Bangladeshi and Indian workers now to build a roof for the people back then...

... for without them there won't be good old singapore as we know it know as we are standing on right now as we're playing music buying gear surfing forum blah blah blah

....for without these people I won't even be here.

Cos I will never ever forgive myself if I can relate to what happen all around the world but nothing on the very land I stand on.

Waterloo? Never heard of it. WW1? everyone knows WW1 and it has affected everyone. Therefore today marks an important day.

now now... don't be insensitive here....

I'm not. I'm just saying more people are educated about WW1 then waterloo. It is a shame about those locals you spoke of, but WW1 was on a world scale.

Anyway lets not ruin this thread. You can remember those who fought or not. Up to you. :)

Asking about waterloo is like asking people staying in this tiny island to remember which MPs incharge of what area and what is their portfolio

Rememberance in the heart, not to whole world!

yes n the time will come to rmmbr those tht u have mentioned. Because itz the time to rmmbr ww1, we r encouraged to do so. N when it will b time to rmmbr singapore's part n ww2, we will. Waterloo? The battle which determined the rule of the world. The French, led by Napolean, against the British, German, and Prussian monarchs battling over the continent. I don't know why most dont know. Bt should know ah. Itz as gd as talking abt ww2 n hitler or the japanese occupation.

hahahaha, this is going no where.

i say, let those who want to remember, remember in the heart and say a prayer for those that sacrified and just shut up instead of posting to tell the world.

let those that don't want to remember, shut up too. I will

world war I took place only in europe, not the world. And because of the mistakes the made by the victors after WWI(as how the textbooks made up to be), we have WWII which affected almost everyone.

Sure they deserve our respect, thats why we have the centapagh(spelling?). But lets not talk about it here, its not very politically correct. Its like posting a topic about remembering the the hock lee bus riots in an american forum.
