Hi, can any good soul here recommend me a good
small watts tube electric gutar amp ranging from 5 to 10 watts max?

If possible I need a clean tone direct from the amp for my
plucking session, where as for
metal stuff I can juz add a pedal?

You could try checking out the Ibanez valve bee. It's about 10 - 15 watts if I recall correctly. As far as sound quality is concerned, it's pretty good and portable.

ibanez valbee is 5w.
Disadvantage:stuck with 1x6 inch speaker. no external speaker out although has headphone out(can be modified though)
Advantage:cheapest all tube combo currently available, 3 band active eq, gain boost/distortion switch, standby switch

Others currently available in sg:
Fender champion 600,epiphone valve junior, blackheart little giant, blackheart killer ant, orange tiny terror(7/15w selectable)

upcoming soon:
vox ac4tv, vox night train(7/15w)

Recommendations:
If you're just starting out, no pedals currently and don't want to spend too much cash, the valbee would probably be the best. If u just want a great clean tone at really soft bedroom volumes, the fender champion 600 fits the bill. If you can wait, the vox ac4tv looks a gd bet too as theres a built in attenuator.

I own and really like the tones out of the epi valve junior. To get the tube crunch though it would have to be turned up really loud(too loud for most apartments).

Gries 5.

Its 5 watts but it can easily keep up with a drummer, doesn't break up easily (surprisingly) unless you use hot pickups like a Dimarzio X2N or you are a hard hitter with pups like the Dimarzio Tone Zone.

High quality components (you wouldn't find these kind of components on a Valbee or Epi Valve) and the low end on it is ridiculous (1x12 combo). Many people have commented - its too much, but to that I say, use the Bass control. Imagine metal on it.

Also - its 3 tubes! Just 3.

Oh yeah, check out Malcolm's Port City Twelve amps. www.mtlutherie.com Good sounding small combo.

Suggest you up the wattage requirements to 15watts. Between a 10 watter and a 15 watter, the difference in output and loudness is quite insignificant.

Theres a Gries 5 on B&S which you might want to check out.

i think we should find out the TS's price range. the prices between a ibanez valbee and a gries 5 is pretty wide

My opinion if you have the budget get something with a 12 inch speaker minimum. You can also try Orange Tiny Terror head with cab , it has a nice bright clean tone and a really nice british overdrive highly recommendable if you have the budget around $900 alternatively VoxAC15 which has a nice sparkly clean and a british overdrive too ranging also 900 plus. If you dont have the money Blackheart little giant with cab costs around $450 although it doest have a really GREAT clean sound its still respectable considering its price range. lower your guitar volume and its cleans sound really good. It also has a Rock , Hardrock distortion. And it works well with pedals. If you still cant afford something within this range you might want to consider saving up , no point spending 200-300 plus for a short-term usage item. Get something you will like and use for a long period keep that in mind. goddluck finding your amp.

Yeah I like the Egnater Rebel 20 aswell, any idea where to get one locally? Better try 1st ah, specs on paper is one thing :)

Wonder if Sinamex carries it..

Btw, is any of the above mention or any1 knows of a
Good CLEAN tone Tube amp 10watt or below with
an input for a cd to jam along??

Cheers

hi,

good cleans you can trust @ below 10w:

fender pro junior
fender blues junior

the blues junior does not have a CD in, i am not sure if the pro junior has one.

Tested the Blues Junior, u've to turn it up high
then there is that "emph" power sound at low
is really weak on evrything, dats my opinion.

Should try pro junior if got a chance...
