grunge is probably what they are,serious music, honest and deep lyrics, conveyed using some elements of blues.
they may not be a 100% blues band , but the band especially mike mcready is has quite a noticeable amount of blues influences... same goes to acdc, aerosmith, even black sabbath
i'm not so much into blues.. but when i play some pearl jam songs in some guitar shop, pple say i like blues.. so yeah.
