ZR trems

I'm thinking of slapping a ZR trem into my jackson warrior, the jackson floyd just doesn't feel as smooth as I'd want it to. I also want a heavier trem, which the ZR apparently is, any idea what modifications i would need to make and where/how much can i get a ZR trem for?

i believe the routing work for the zr trem will be very extensive since it is a ball bearing pivot post system compared to the traditionally kinfe edge trems. it would be more viable solution to rout for an edge trem instead. it would not be as smooth as zr unit but in my entire guitar playing life, the edge is one the smoothest knife edge trem units out there. or another alternative is too save up and get a s320 that comes with the zr trem already which would be probably be cheaper.

Hmm, I'll consider the EDGE or an OFR then... the S320 choice would be a little silly for me... the Jackson WRMG is a farrr better guitar that an S320, personal opinion.

you could also consider the gotoh tremelos units being sold at zen guitar. they manufacture most of the high end bridges for ibanez so you are guarranted quality for almost half the price and they will most probably retrofit most lisc. trem routes most of the time.

Hydrofly, grab the Gotoh. :)

Check it out.

Heavy isn't necessarily better. There was an article by... the name escapes me, some famous guitar maker... who argued that heavier = less resonant therefore less tone.

I've got a Gotoh. I've swapped out the stock brass block for a bigger (twice the weight) one.

There are improvements - many improvements... but I lose the smoother feel of the lighter block. I also suspect I have lost/suppressed/reduced some nuances of tone (harmonic overtones and what not)... That one isn't bugging me too much yet but its a suspicion...

At least you can be assured of one thing - the Gotoh is as sturdy as an OFR.
