Zoom H2

Bro, are you ben? Yeah we heard your samples on your myspace. The place of jamming do counts. The best is you record in a bigger space. :) Why sell the H2! Its a a really great tool!

Maybe you should go back to the place you bought it to check bout the mic holder.

yeah, the mp3 samples really abit bad..
nvm, ill try 4tones big room soon, my fav jamming place of all
yeah, ill go check about the mic holder soon, its just slanted la... its not the mic holder slanted, its when i put it with the h2, its not vertical..
haha, might wanna keep it for awhile more

thanks guys

oh, btw im wayne

haha, we should add more.. put all the zoom handy recorders together for ultimate recordage.. i think zoom really does a very good job at making the person sound like he's in the jamming room though.. i guess we just sounded like crap in beat merchants

ikilledkenny : the mp3 samples on your myspace are recorded with the H2?
ok here's what I hear - your mic input too loud. did you put to "low" and then bring down the levels if it's still clipping? don't worry about if your recording will be too soft, you can use audacity to bring up the levels later. otherwise your recording can have alot of potential. you can trust me, I used to record with a karaoke mic + sharp MD. this used to be my game haha.

if despite "low" input volume and the thing still clips/distort, i think you can set the "Level" lower than it should, but then again you might wanna put it slightly away from the guitar amp (or bring down your guitar amp volume) , and put it facing your vocal PA speaker so the "vocals is center" rather than panned left.

btw I got 2x zoom h4s. i'm planning to get a H2 but kinda broke for now after paying insurance.

haha, thanks dude..
btw yeah, i set the mic gain on low, and it was kinda close to the guitar amp, nevermind, guess ill have to slowly trial and error..

ahah, now im messing around with wavosaur using the surroundizer effect to play around with the sound.. dam chim, still figuring out..

hahaa, u need so many handy recorders for what? how many hands u have? why not just get like 10 shure sm8s?

yeah, search around soft forum for recording in the jam studio I ever posted ideas and guides before.

you can't really do much with the "surround" thing, even if you panned your vocals center, the drums may sound off place. the only thing is don't do your fixing after recording, do it BEFORE.

i want handy recorders because they're battery powered , and trying to achieve the goal like you suggested : " put all the zoom handy recorders together for ultimate recordage"

unlike my setup here : http://img514.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tnblueprintmobilewz2.jpg

the D888 needs power socket. i don't have 10 sm58s but I already have 13 mics. (6 drums, 1 vocal , 6 spare mics + 1 spoilt drum mike) , I use the Zoom H4 as overhead (x2 mics) mics also.

you can check out my band, every song there is recorded using the H2. Indeed it takes lots of trial and error. But once you get the hang of it, it should work out ok.

wanted to post a thread to ask really newbie questions regarding the zoom H2..found this thread..discussions keeps on goin so yea..my apologies to the thread starter for jumpin on..anyway..i have several questions..if its convincing then im gettin the H2..firstly..my purpose of getting the h2 is just for general beginner use..not to record a whole jam session but to just record my friend playing his acoustic guitar..then transfer it to pc..then sample it to create a song..another purpose is to use it as a usb mic...so my question is..issit recommendable if i buy it just for that purposes and issit user friendly and convenient?

heard bout the "drift" problem..but with editing on the pc..shouldnt be a problem rite?

sorry for the newbie illustrated post..

thankx :)

hey, are u gonna be using the h2 to release an ep to sell music or something? or just planning to record ideas and maybe a rough recording for people to hear.. if ur planning to record ideas the h-2 would be good enough, as for to release an ep type of standard, can be done, but alot of work to do though, anyway it is user friendly and convenient..

btw if ur just gonna be recording ideas, a good handphone sound recorder might be a good idea too, dont have to spend money to get the h2 :) or maybe a good video cam also can..

Cool!..i think i just need a portable recorder..the means of using it is wherever i go..if i hear interesting sound i just can press the record button..and i don't have a mic at home..and to invest in a mic preamp..mixer and a mic is a no no for me now..i need something that can be use at home and mobile..and bear in mind that im not gonna record heavy metal guitar distortion or a jamming sessions...more interested in ambience sound..field recording..acoustic guitar..and at home..simple vocals..so for my needs..issit recommendable? :)

Yes definitely. That's exactly how I use mine.

It is ideal for micing your accoustic guitar. An additional advantage of something light and portable like the H2 is that you can find the best sounding part of your house to record in. (eg. maybe your kitchen is tiled and has a nice reverb).

If you have access to a camera tripod it will work as a mic stand which is very handy. The advantage is that tripods usually collapse down much smaller than mic stands which is handy if you are doing lots of field recording.

Bonus for the H2 is that it doubles as a pretty decent usb sound card if you don't have anything decent already.

Was considering of buying this during the mid year city music sale, but I heard about the drifting problem and had seconds thoughts. The drift was quite bad for the 4 mins clip bpstudios posted. How do you guys actually deal with this?

cool!..im still considering it though..what's the retail price currently and where is the best place to get it? i saw one at hung bros..and one more at city music..didnt bother to ask how much issit the other time..range between $250 to $300 i suppose? will them retailers throw in tripod stand or what not?

should be around 242 at citymusic.. not sure whether they will drop their prices somemore for end of year sale, anyway, they will include, tripod stand, mic handle thinggy, earpiece, adapter, usb cable, those tv connector cables..

the zoom H2 is excellente. easy to use and after recording, just plug and play..really very simple...
It is simple if you use it as a stand alone recording device, but from what I'm reading, it does get slightly complicated if you want to sync the audio file with anything else, e.g. video clip taken from a separate cam, another track that was taken wit hthe same recorder etc. I'm searching the net to see if there are any work abouts to these before buying cause honestly, it's a good product apart from the evil drift!

Hi Everyone,

Do you happen to know any local servicing/repair for broken zoom h2 recorder here in Singapore? My recorder won't turn on after using the AC adapter that I plugged in to a wall socket. Im afraid there's a part inside the circuit that has been fried..

Thanks in advance.
