Hi to all,
it was past midnight on sat 12 Aug 06,working at home workshop to install a killswitch on my SG.nevermind the odd hours, and my RT training at bedok FCC Camp on Sun at 8 am.( yes I woke up late at 7.45am, caught a taxi, luckily the malay taxi uncle was swift, i registered for the Phase 2 training 10 mins before closing time)
this is my second guitar installed with an killswitch, my first guitar a (strato based) was install with a mini toggle, works well; but on the other hand, due to the short handler, it was not grip friendly compared to a les paul switch. thus on my SG i decided to source for the ultimate toggle switch which had the good charactertics of an LP switch as well others listed below:
1. SPST
no usage for the additional pole in LP switch, simplicity is the objective.
2. small calvary to flush the switch.
LP switch require a relatively big calvary, the objective is to keep the calvary small, minimse the drilling and routing.
3. light toggle force for swift action
LP switch require light switch force, that is important for techniques like Morello technic of hand tremolo ( calm like a bomb etc)
after some month of seeking manage to find one japan made switch that fit my requirement.morever it's has small body like a miniturare switch and big head, toggle handler.
and here's the process and pic, :

Pic 2:cant find my martika router set. decide to use the drill/route technique learned from my dad.

pic 2: insertion of silver wire, connected to the toggle switch ( leftover from my DIY speaker project)
pic 3: soldering, ( empolyed using silver solder)
Pic 4: done!! polish with the guitar wiper
completed time : 4.30 am, a 90's mediacorp drama was showing on Channel 8, and i was watching it and gradually dozed off.....
